I sent an email to Doug Gill to ask if it was actually a typo.

I'm sure it does, but considering that "bigger picture" won't happen until 2010 at the latest, would you want your ITR thrown to the RX8/350Z wolves? I know I don't appreciate my WRX being one of those left behind with the DS-exodus to GS. Why not the R32, Crossfire and WRX too?

What, pray tell, is that bigger picture plan for those of us who can't read what's not in print.

Re: Integra Type R to BS

I guess this a clear message that the SEB no longer cares to see the cars competitively classed.  Can't say I blame them.  The TypeR has been at or near the top for a decade.  You haven't been able to get one new since Clinton was in the white house, and you can't hardly find one used that hasn't be bastardized.  If you are lucky enough to come across a stock one it costs a small fortune to buy, costs another small fortune to insure, and will probably be stolen eventually.

    Here's my take on it:
Making GS the FWD/LSD class will make more sense to most newbies and a lot of oldies in regards to "where does my car go?"

Exclude the Type R since you can't even drive one anywhere without a high risk of theft. Type R autox'ers can easily sell them to non autox'ers for good money. Type R's are the cream of the crop right now in DS.

Looking into the future here but you can open up DS for the rally cars since they don't seem to be able to get it done in AS and putting them in BS would cause an uproar and CS is more the 2 seater sports car class...

Good points...Similar to the situation with my TTRX7R1. It is "excluded" by being classed in SS even though it "fits" really well in AS now.

Re: Integra Type R to BS

I really do not see any of this making any kind of sense.  IMHO...

    1.  SCCA is worried about theft now?

    2.  There are other cars that are competitive in classes that you cannot get new anymore other than the Type R.  I can think of at least 10 without even trying.

    3.  The rally cars are competitive in AS but it is very course dependent.  Jonathan Roberts is the only one campaigning though.

I think it makes total sense...and have been saying so for over a year, including the part about throwing the ITR under the bus, blowing up DS,  and opening up a class for rally cars...right, Andy?Wink

Karen, I agree.  The only thing that makes sense is that perhaps they are trying to class by car type, i.e. FWD with LSD goes to GS.  However, the Eclipse/Talon AWD Turbo is also proposed to go to GS, so that throws that idea out the window.

I know it is just one event, but looking at the DC Pro results the top 5 cars in DS were each a different make/model.  ITR was on top, but the BMW 135, VW R32, Talon, and Crossfire were right up there too.  It was also a large class, with 18 drivers.  It doesn't look broken.  However, for a regular (non-ProSolo) autox the ITR has proven to be the top car for the class.  Moving the ITR out would probably just make some other car the top car (I'd pick the 135i).

Well I am really wondering why the 3 Series, WRX, and Crossfire are getting left out of any moves right now?  Maybe street prepared is where I will end up next year after all this shakes out.  Only time will tell.

My member comment will likely be: I can't offer constructive comment on these proposals because I have no idea what in the world you guys have in mind for "the bigger picture." It might be helpful if you guys enlighten us on why you are doing this.
