    Columbus, July 19 & 20

    MS SCCA Autocross Points Events
    July 19 & 20
Columbus Air Force Base, Columbus MS

edit (July 17): Here is a summarized base access list for all those who made the deadline. Make sure that both you and your vehicle are on it before you make the trip!

As always, base access forms are required to be allowed on base. I'll start accepting those about two weeks before the event. I'm hoping to be able to use MotorsportReg to handle the base access portion of this event, but that's yet to be determined. Stay tuned.

This event is in memoriam of the two pilots (Faulkner and Emmons) who lost their lives earlier this year. We're going to collect an additional $5 per day per entrant in order to help sponsor a $500 donation in honor of the two men on behalf of the Mississippi Region SCCA.

Bring your "A" game, your sunscreen, and plenty of water and you'll be in good shape.

    Re: Columbus, July 19 & 20

I will be there, can not wait.  Just so everyone knows there will be a base training event the day before(18th).  This will not interfere with the races.  Look forward to seeing all of you and hopefully I will be able to keep her on the track this time around.  If any problems at the gate ask for SSGT Minatel.  I will not be working that day but will have my phone.  Please include all information on the registration sheet or my guys will not be able to get you on base.  No cell phones while driving on base, use your seat belts, and pull over for emergency vehicles.  See you there.  Also,  the buildings where we race will probably be demolished by then so we will need port-o-pottys.

Drew, any update on the registration process? The Alabama FSAE team is planning on coming and I need to tell them who to send their forms to.

    Re: Columbus, July 19 & 20

It looks like we're going to have to do it the old fashioned way again this time around. You'd think that I'd be smart enough to sit down for a couple of hours and write a web-based form, but you'd be wrong.

Once we get our car back together. Thanks to the Alabama team making a part for us.  So that's our payback to them, showing them up. And maybe beer too, as a consolation prize.

Just put it down as such and leave the tag number off. I think we've had that before and it's no problem.

    Is this the maiden voyage?

    Re: Columbus, July 19 & 20

Fingers are crossed.  Gotta change the brake pads to something that will actually stop the car and string align it somewhere in the ballpark of where it needs to be so it's not so evil...and a few other minor things.  Just haven't found a trailer I'm willing to drop the coin for, so I'm either borrowing or renting.

Less than 70 hours until the deadline for base access forms and I've received a grand total of TWO.

Don't wait until Sunday to send your form; get them in now. Remember, if you send in a form and decide not to come to the event, it's no problem. But if you don't send in a form and decide to come, you'll be turned away at the base entrance.

    Send your form to msscca@gmail.com

E-mail sent.  Now FSAE from MS State looks doubtful. Unless anyone has a machine shop that can turn a 100 lb chunk of cast iron to make a new brake rotor handy...

Yeah, Alabama will still be there.  I mean, I don't see you up here taking inventory or anything, so tell me who's "ridonkulous" now.

Haven't made it into work yet, fool. And yes, Fountain does have an idea. But it involves shop access, so I don't know how it's going to work out. But I bet it'll be perfect.

Is this the part Alabama was supposed to be making for you or a different one?

    Re: Columbus, July 19 & 20

A new one. The spindles that Alabama made us were great. It was when I was putting them on the car that I realized that we broke our spare brake rotors at competition this year and nobody thought to start the process of getting new ones made.
