What you guys need to do is build 2 sets of suspension parts.
One set that's meets your SAE engineers/advisors/judges ideas of what the design concept is about. Run that set at FASE events. (Incidently, have you noticed the judges don't have to drive the car???? They let you bust your butt, then proudly tell how you how you screwed it up.)
And a second more durable set for SCCA events (and also as the back up spares for when the light weight stuff breaks at the FSAE events.)
My 2cnts.
Maybe you guys could run some crazy fast engine setup with no restrictions ....for fun of course not actuall FSAE events.

Good plan. I think the engine in this link would be perfect haha. f4i for fsae events and two hayabusa engines merged into a v8 for everything else. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2005/02/09/hayabusa-v8-engine/ 372hp in a fsae car just makes sense

Re: Grenada, August 16-17
Anybody need/want a co-driver for the Grenada event?
I am still out of tire-money from buying that damn ring...on the bright-side, the mustang is getting some much-needed R & R for the time being...

Re: Grenada, August 16-17
There's a seat open in my car. Harder than they should be street tires, automatic transmission, a power to weight ratio of 13.6 pounds per 1 horsepower (a Formula One car has 1.675-ish pounds per 1 horsepower, for comparison). Oh, and since I'm trying to convince you that this is a good idea, you get to buy me beer, and enjoy the hilarity that ensues, at Jake and Rip's Saturday night.

Re: Grenada, August 16-17
Guys, I plan to come, but still not sure what day. I wanted to come both days, but affording a room is pretty much out of the question for the moment, unless there is somewhere extremely cheap. Should be another BMW in the bunch this weekend too - Ive got a first-timer who's bringing out a 335i and wants me to co-drive it! I'll still bring the Drift Machine and get some seat time, if I come both days. Otherwise, Im gonna be having a ball in that little black BMW!
Just trying to get some Seat Time! 86 Mustang GT, 5 Lug conversion, 3.73's

Picking up Bell's bar tab could run you up to $10 if he decides to get really crazy. Frankenberry, I'm sure you remember how he took down almost two-and-a-half beers at Hooters in Valdosta and stumbled out of the place.

Re: Grenada, August 16-17
Just so you know, I've been working on my "A" game lately, and could probably make it to THREE beers before i start acting like Trey Walker. I did manage to drink 8 bourbon and cokes the other night at Dave's...
