axle play in 2000 integra

after replacing the passenger side axle seal for the tranny once before, and then seeing it continue to leak i think it has to do with the passenger side axle having play in it (up and down/front to rear). what is the likely cause of this, and do i need to tear apart the tranny to fix it?

My guess is there is too much play and the seal can't cope. Make sure you lube it good to prevent chafing damage upon insertion. Hmm, sounds like another process
