I have not cut any corners, and have spent more money than I have, to get the car to this point.  I have just gotten the car corner balanced and aligned and will be racing on May 18 at Milwaukee Reg. SCCA event #2.  Please let me know if you are interested in the car.  Asking $6500.  $5500.

Little rust in the corner.  Other side I believe, has some bondo repair.

Most of the suspension parts were sandblasted and painted along with the calipers and drums.

    Windshield has a crack

    History of the car:

This was a one-owner until March of 2007.  I bought it from a Minnesota autocrosser who bought it from the original owner.  I've got the original window sticker as well as a pile of maintenance records. The car has always had Mobil One oil since the break-in period when the car was new. The original owner always performed scheduled maintenance on the car, and it shows. Transmission shifts very well. No pop-out or nasty grinds. Interior is in great shape with only a little bolster wear on the driver's seat from getting in/out.  Thanks

Re: 1989 Civic Si STS Prep. built to match National champ car WI

Update on the car.  It made it through its maiden voyage with 3 drivers and only one problem.  On the passenger side, the outside pad was hung up on the rotor during the runs.  When I got home, I jacked it up and with the car in neutral, I spun the rim and got one full rotation on one side and half a rotation on the other side.  I have the problem solved and to verify it, I am going to daily drive it to work for a week or so.  When I went to take the outside pad out of the caliper it was jammed in.  So, what was happening was the piston was releasing the inside pad but the outside was jammed against the rotor.

Results from 5/18.  I unfortunately was dirty all day, but raw times for myself, Jason Frank, and Craig Mankiewicz are listed below.  I was running on 4 year old Falken Azenis 215's (205/50/15) and they may not have any life left, althought they felt pretty good.  I will be posting results from the June 7&8 events if no one has purchased the car prior to that event.  I have high asperations for that event and may get the chance to run a run or two on better tires to see if that is a difference maker.  I know that fixing that brake situation will be a large help.

Milwaukee Region SCCA Event #2 5/18/2008

Jason Frank best raw time 60.631 (clean)

Craig Mankiewicz best raw time 60.927 (clean)

Jimmy in for sale car best raw time 61.883 (dirty, very dirty but the driving line was not far off)

Video of one run from that event - http://youtube.com/watch?v=mOx2Ct-mGX4

Accepting offers, but would prefer to have the car fully sorted so buyer knows exactly where the car will match up with the top cars in the class.  Thanks to everyone for their interest so far and hopefully we will have a good idea of where the car stacks up after the next event.

Re: 1989 Civic Si STS Prep. built to match National champ car WI

Drove it on Saturday at WAI event number 3 and the steering was messed up.  I thought it could be the toe out that I had in the front but it kept getting worse and the toe was not changing.  Craig, Jason and I had the front end up in the air and were checking everything for any play and there was none.  We have deduced that it is the steering rack.  I have a rebuilt one on order and will be changing it out soon.  I also suspect the fuel tank of having a slow leak, but cannot find it.  There were a couple drips of gas on the ground after the front of the car was jacked into the air when the tank was full.  I will look into that further when the car is in the air for the steering rack change.

Soon I am moving to an apartment where I get to park only one car, that means I need this one gone and I have to finish building the engine for my daily driver which leaves me little time and no more money to tweak this car.  I can assist with shipping or in any other way that I can.  Car is so close to being a National championship contender.  All the parts that were put on recently have about 200 miles on them.

    Thanks

Re: 1989 Civic Si STS Prep. built to match National champ car WI

I can take some stuff off for a lower price or something.  If there is any interest at all, please let me know.  If you are interested in parts off the car, I will start parting it out in two weeks.  Things that would be available would be springs, rear sway bar, front and rear camber adjusters, new oem front pads and rotors (200 miles), maybe the control arms with poly bushings, maybe the front hub assemblys that have new ball joints and wheel bearings (200 miles).

I don't want to take it all back apart, but need to do something.  I can take off $450 for the shocks and coilovers and include stock shocks and springs and the race springs, I can take off another $350 for the Falken hannabi's and include 14" steelies, Another $150 off if no underdrive pulley, another $100 with the steel braided brake lines taken off.  Any combo of the above, or make up a combo to propose to me.

    Thanks everyone

Re: 1989 Civic Si STS Prep. built to match National champ car WI

Does it have A/C?  Would it be reliable enough to be a daily driver?  Registered and inspected?  Pics of the interior?

    Thanks,

    John

A/C has been removed.  I can give you the A/C stuff from my CRX if you want it.  I see no reason why it would not be a reliable daily driver, just bumpy.  I don't know what inspected means in your state.  It was registered last year in Minnesota. Here are some pics of the interior.

    Thanks.

    Re: Parting out race stuff

Yeah, I wish I was in CA also.  Stick out tongue

Car is still kind of for sale, but it is in near stock trim at this point.  I have stock shocks and springs back on it, no rear sway bar, took off the upper control arm adjusters and the 15 inch rims are sold.  Still has the other stuff and I am asking maybe $2900?  I just put so many new parts on it, I am using it for my daily driver at this point.

Is this still for sale?  I'm thinking of moving from CSP to STS and need a car.
