    Mustang to BS?

No, not the current car...the Shelby has single handedly revived FS and is soon to be joined by the new Camaro and Challenger (otherwise known as "Porky"), no reason to mess with that class...

But, rumors of a new "SVO" model...

    BS or the "new" DS?

Why not AS?  The new Stang is supposed to be 500 lbs lighter than the current one and that class already has three 300ish hp turbo 4-bangers.

    Lose the Mullet.

Oh wait, that is the stang drivers, not the car.

    Big Smile Nice.

Don't forget... Gun rack = 25lbs. Bullet hole stickers = 1 lb. 8-track player with shelf speakers = 40lbs. Tobacco spit bottle = 5 lbs. etc. It all adds up.

I can't see this car getting it done in AS. STi/Evo has equal horsepower and 4wd. e46 M3 has plenty more horsepower, no turbo lag, presumably better geometry, and only does moderately well in AS. Of course we have no real data on this car at all yet. Sounds pretty strange though, but I bet we will see a lot of unusual things in the high horsepower car scene in the next few years as US companies go all in on feul economy. (Given their all in SVU strategy worked out so well... )

Pontiac Solstice has 40 less HP.  The S2000 has 60 less HP.  They seem to do ok.

It will most likely depend on the spring rates it gets and how much tire you can fit under it.  If it ends up with 8" or wider wheels and is sprung like the Shelby, I could see it.

    Re: Mustang to BS?

Keep in mind that by the time this Mustang SVO is released (if it's real), the RX8 and 350Z will be pretty much new designs...with promises of more power and equal weight...so, 300hp, 2900'ish pounds (if Ford is serious about the Mustang weight and size reduction program, which they've been talking up big time), and 8" rims is right in the ball park for what BS will then be...

The scary thing is, if Ford IS serious, the 2010 Mustang GT could be 350hp and right at 3000lbs....making all of our bling bling Shelbys obsolete in FS...Sad

Such is life in Stock.  How much stability should be expected in a Stock class?  How long is "long enough" for a car to be at the top of a Stock class?  To be one of the car types that trades wins form event to event (SS and AS being the examples of huge classes with lots of diversity at the top)?
