    Taking it to STS

Are coilovers legal in STS.  The rules state that the spring must be the same style as the original on your car(coil, leaf, torsion bar, etc.).

Well if your car originally came with coilovers (i.e. struts), then absolutely.   Section 14.8A, where the rule you quoted is, later says "Coil spring perches originally attached to struts or shock absorber bodies may be changed or altered, and their position may be adjustable.  Spacers are allowed above or below the spring."  That would take care of adjustable coilovers.  And then Section 14.5A says any shock absorbers are allowed, with a few restrictions.  So, yes.

But of course being in STS in the MS region puts you in the open tire class, so you might want to consider that before you make a change.

I don't plan on running STS in MS region, but when I go to tri-state I will run STS, or any other non MS race.

Dose your car classify as a STS class car?  When you did the chip did it mount in the stock location?  Look over all of the rules and see if your still able to run STS.

Ah, well then you should be good as long as no 1989 Civics show up. Smile  I ran STS in Tri-State last year, and no one else even ran the required number of events, so I won it by default.

    Re: Taking it to STS

yep, the chip is on another ECU I bought.  So it is the stock location.  I haven't check if my car is on the STS list.  But I have looked at the rulebook and I fit every part of STS except the catalytic converter par (I will buy one soon, just for the occasion and take it off after).

Well Ben, I will remember that for when I put you car together.  I go back around Taylor and loosen all of your bolts.  You won't get far...hahaha

    Re: Taking it to STS

Hay now I'll be running all the events with my car so we should have some good close racing.  I should have a faster car by then, getting the Ground Control Coil-overs for my car in the next few weeks.

Awesome! Is it a kit GC makes or are you just buying the coilovers.  Tell me how the install goes.  Do you have tires yet?  The Dunlops didn't even show wear after the Memphis event.
