6 Replies and 2295 Views Roll Cage, Roll Bar, Roll... something??  2295  6 Started by  rccardude04 I have a 1994 Miata that's currently 100 national-level legal in STR. I know it's not exactly going to be winning nationals regardless of who is behind the wheel, but I like to stick to the ruleset and I have it. So that's where I'm at. :p  However, I'm trying to prepare it for some dual-use stuff like track days/HPDEs as well as solo. And there's always that off chance that it'll turn into a real racecar some day... who knows. Plus I'd feel safer with a bar or cage in the car just on the...

We will be using the whole pad for one course. The asphalt has aged and has much better grip. Ron Williams will be the course designer. Plan on a national style course.

1 Replies and 783 Views Traction/Stability Control Question?  783  1 Started by  ryansport22 I have a 97 Subaru Impreza that I race in E-Mod. I broke my stock 5 speed transmission and have purchased a STI 6 speed for its replacement. The 6 speed has a DCCD center diff, it has a 35:65 torque split with adjustable lockup. There are 3 ways that I could set up this diff- 1) Default setting is open, no lockup with the 35:65 torque split 2) Manual controller- controls the lockup with a manual knob, the knob would not be accessible during a run, lockup percentage would remain constant at all...

5 Replies and 1650 Views Quietest Extreme Performance tire?  1650  5 Started by  ubersoph Title says it all. I like my star specs a lot but they have gotten really noisy in about 4000 miles. Since this is a dual purpose car that is both being daily driven and taken to events, I'm looking for a tire that is similar in performance characteristics to the star specs but is not as loud on highway trips. If there is no such animal then I'll keep rocking these. If there is though I'd love to hear about it. Are the Rivals any quieter Is the Continental DW close enough that I could get by o...

2 Replies and 1084 Views ST Classes and Catch-alls  1084  2 Started by  Sprockett Looking for a little help. I was under the impression that you could not run a car at a National solo event that fell under under a catch-all classing line. ST recently went to explicit car listing but still has catch-alls at the end. Does it state in the rulebook somewhere that these catch-alls aren't eligible for National Solo Thanks,

It was cold and the surface had alot of trash on it, but overall they seemed to perform decently especially when you consider that they are almost $75 less per tire than RS-3/Star Specs.

16 Replies and 3780 Views Flipping BFG Rivals?  3780  16 Started by  crv Has anyone tried reversing them I dont think its recommended so mine will be done shortly.   I have had mine for awhile, maybe 55 laps and they  are looking just like hoosiers with the outer edges all removed and are going to cord well before the rest of the tire.  At least the Hoosiers you can flip.  Side topic - Only .8 neg (my car)  is JUST not enough for any tire for autox.   We need  camber allowances for the camber challenged cars.

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
About me: I ran a CSP 85 RX7 in the late 90s and put that on hold to raise kids.  I have recently found autocross again.  My PAX times at regional events are in the 50th percentile, in F stock, on street tires in a 2002 M5.  I have a lot of learning to do.  I don’t have a huge budget to work with 2 kids in college, 1 in HS, a 1 year old, and an understanding wife.  Regardless, I want to own an autocross car that I am able to drive on the street.  The requireme...

0 Replies and 1134 Views Fuel cell fuel door options for CP car?  1134  0 Started by Hello all,  I recently purchased an older CP car and am in the process of bringing it back to life.  Currently the fuel cell, located in the hatch area (Mustang) is accessed by removing 8 bolts that secure a bulkhead that from what I have read is required for safety and to be legal.  I am looking for ideas on how to install a fuel door that will comply with the rules and permit faster access to fill the tank.  Suggestions and pics would be greatly appreciated.
