10 Replies and 861 Views Tire Availability Rules Question  861  10 Started by  Davard I have a question regarding the tire availabilty rules in Section 13.3F as they apply to the Street Touring class. For those unfamiliar with 13.3F, 'Each tire model must be sold in at least four diameters, with a total of at least six sizes.'My question is, does this rule still pertain to STS I suggested a tire to someone, and they told me that since it was only available in 3 different diameters, it wouldn't be legal. But the car that won STS at Nationals was on BFG KDs, which are only availabl...

5 Replies and 929 Views Lightweight Flywheel??  929  5 Started by  ConemowerSL2 I'm looking for thoughts about the good/bad about lightened flywheels in SoloII.I have a DOHC Saturn. It's no stump puller, but it's got a respectable torque curve for a 4 banger. It's a daily driver, but that's secondary. FWIW, I'll be running in SM this year. I've got a torsen diff installed, bolt-on power adders for the engine (with some more serious ones lined up).any input is appreciated.Jeff------------------1998 Saturn SL2Now with 2 Wheel Drive!

3 Replies and 895 Views need quieter sidepipe mufflers  895  3 Started by  fwcabaniss I run a small block Chevy. I currently have Stahl side pipe type headers, 3' collectors with a 12' Dynomax 3' core race bullet magnum mufflers on each side, with turndowns. This will be my third year without changes, but the last two events at Roebling Road, I was warned that I was right on the limit. I am looking for data or experience. Is a Lobak, spiral type muffler, quieter than the magnum bullets, how about the longer bullet I also found an interesting perforated cone insert for the col...

0 Replies and 635 Views AT Problem Solved  635  0 Started by  Trys_Hard Actually the problem wasn't my AT. My Talon needed to have the timing belt replaced. My mechanic told me that the belt had slipped a tooth. Well anyway now being in second at 30mph is no problem because the torque is there to pull the gear. Plus I am putting on 205 x 55 14 Kuhmo V700 on my stock steel wheels, which should improve acceleration also since I now have 205 x 70 14 on there now. Now if I could only tighten that nut behind the wheel .....------------------&91list&93*Art Rinner*9...

3 Replies and 980 Views Tuning Koni Double Adjustables  980  3 Started by  NBM LS1 M6 I'm going to be going through a routine to try to dial in my shocks a little better, and I'm open to input. It was suggested to me to begin by putting them at full stiff rebound in the front, full soft rebound in the rear, and full soft bump/compression both front and rear, and then tune them from there. The previous settings of the shocks for some time have been 3 clicks bump in the rear,4 clicks bump in the front, ~40 rebound in the front, and ~30 rebound in the rear. 3 Replies and 761 Views Comparing Toyo RA1 to BFG R1s which one is faster?  761  3 Started by  myronx19 Hey all,I've run the BFG R1 for several years (they still made it in 13' recently) in a 185/60/13.All the guys that used to run BFG R1s went to Toyo RA1.I might try the Hoosier R3S03 185/60/13, but would love to know if the Toyo is slower/faster than the old R1 tire. I've heard it both ways, the R1 is old technology, but the Toyo doesn't have the same features. The Hoosier is quite expensive (about $210 ea Canadian) while the Toyo is much cheaper (about $115 Canadian ea)Any suggestions

13 Replies and 2225 Views 358 vs. 377 vs. 383  2225  13 Started by  C4RACER OK motor-heads, any opinions on thisIs anyone on this list using a high HP 383 in a vette that is road raced a fair amount I'm not talking about a 100 race car, but more of a club racer that is also driven on the street once in awhile.I'm contemplating a few directions to replace the motor that died in my '91. There are various costs involved due to parts already owned and etc. The cheapest and easiest solution would be to run a 383. But I'm worried about the 3.75' stroke for the road course...
