10 Replies and 2160 Views Where would a diffuser put me? 2160 10 Started by btwyx For one of our cars (our track car not our autocross car), I'm thinking of adding a diffuser, I was wondering where that would put me if we ever wanted to autocross the car. The car is a 2012 MINI JCW, so might fit in DS, STX or DSP. I assume that would put me out of stock. So I looked at the ST rules. 14.2F mentions 'spoilers, splitters, rear wings', but no mention of diffusers. The diffuser is 'a production part which is standard or optional equipment of a US model of the vehicle.' The diffus...

5 Replies and 2159 Views BFG R1-S 2159 5 Started by white_turbo I am looking to try out the R1-S this season and it appears that the specs on various vendors are not consistent with the BFG official website. 10 Replies and 3110 Views 2013 Mustang Suspension Questions 3110 10 Started by c_reber So I know the Mustang GT would be in F-stock. From what I'm reading, just changing the lower control arms to adjustable instantly puts the car into SM I do have more suspension installed, but wondering mostly about the LCA's. My current mods: KW V3 coilovers / Whiteline Upper control arm, Lower control arm, F&R Swaybars, Watts link / Steeda short shifter / 18x10.5 TSW wheels with 285/35 Hankook RS3. 1 Replies and 980 Views Evo X build in GT class? 980 1 Started by dnetcrawler Hi Everyone, I have a build that I started last year with the intention of road racing at some point. I know that I will not having any issues running in NASA ST1 class, but was wondering if there would be any opportunity for me to qualify the car for any of the GT classes. I'm really interested in doing SCCA, but I'm guessing at this point it might not be possible unless I make any major changes. The car is currently making 560whp. These are the current modifications: ...

0 Replies and 732 Views First SCCA Club Race at Chuckwalla 732 0 Started by SDRon The first SCCA Club Race at Chuckwalla is coming April 6 and 7. Its the first race San Diego Region will be sponsoring in a bazillion years. If you're not familiar with it, Chuckwalla is about midway between LA, Phoenix, and Vegas, just a bit off I-10 at Rice Road. The raceway is a smooth, 16 turn, 2.68 mile course. Its great fun to drive, with elevation changes, a medium length front straight, and a banked bowl. The track's facilities have been much improved since it opened- it has permanent r...

13 Replies and 2512 Views Newbie Help: Will AutoX hurt my DD? 2512 13 Started by djc225 I drive a g35x sedan. has 175K miles on it. I took it to an autocross once and loved it but have been hesitant to go back until i can afford another car due to not wanting to beat on my only car. I drive my three year old son around in the car alot so i dont want autocrossing it to somehow affect safety. if i continue to autocross it, what parts end up taking the beating the hardest i want to be sure that they'd be things that i can afford to and know how to change myself.

5 Replies and 31668 Views "Daily Driver" Tire Review: Nitto Motivo 31668 5 Started by gary p I was recently selected to participate in a tire evaluation program for the Nitto tire company. I was provided a set of their new Motivo model tires in the o.e. size for my vehicle (215/45/17). In return I was asked to share my honest feedback on the various automotive forums to which I subscribe. To fulfill that obligation, I have started this thread. I will open with my initial impressions. As I gain more experience and insight, I will follow up with additional posts. Market Position...

19 Replies and 2340 Views CStock, BSP, and/or different car? 2340 19 Started by Rex247 Hi SCCAForum members, I'm a beginner looking to start solo racing. I own a 2008 Nissan 350Z Enthusiast Coupe with 6 speed transmission, which I bought in June completely stock. Since I got a raise at work, I figured I could start spending money on my car to get into racing or to buy a different car for the same purpose. I really don't know where to start, should I start out in C stock and just focus on learning to drive and tires. Should I start in BSP because I can gradually mod my car Or shou...

0 Replies and 857 Views Width Difference between same size ZI and ZII StarSpec 857 0 Started by BenSTi Hi Guys, I am running 265/35/18 ZI Starspecs on 18x10 TE37 on my RS4, and I am ready to order new tires for track season. I have a single 275/35/18 ZI that I test fit and I have just enough clearance on the inside against the knuckle to make it work. How does the actual width compare on ZI vs ZII I would like to go with the 275 if possible, but if it is wider than the ZI by any significant amount, it will not work. Anyone have experience with this

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I'm contemplating the purchase of a tire changer machine, but would appreciate any feedback, experiences, from anyone who has gone this route already. This would be for home use, usual autox r-tire/wheels. Sidewall aspect no lower than 35 ratio. Hoosier or Kumho, not sure yet. Have seen a bit and heard of Corghi (sp), Ranger, Hunter ($), and seems like just a ton of add on options available. Do all those side swing arm things provide essential purpose for the occasional home user What wo...

3 Replies and 1068 Views Mods for Stock BMW 328is 1068 3 Started by wbruzzese I've been driving my 1998 BMW 328is for a couple years in STX, but was considering going back to D STOCK class. I know I need to return to the stock airbox and 15 (or 16) inch wheels. My suspension has only been modified mildly with the addition of H&R Race springs on Bilstien Sport shocks. They lower the car about an 1' or so. I'm also considering Swaybarbarians for the front and rear. Can I run an LSD if it has the same ratio as stock or was a stock option on the car Now on to t...
