4 Replies and 1220 Views Corvette stock class question  1220  4 Started by  trentnevius Replacing the front spring on my '92 vette - the stock Z07 spring has a code of FSK, which I can't locate replacements anywhere new or used. However, GM used to list a replacement spring with code FHA, which is 3n/mm stiffer (93 vs. 90 for mine). There is a GM service tag on a spring I found (tag still on the spring) that actually lists it as a replacement for my spring and several others (FSK, FHA, FHC, and some others that are almost the same rating). I assume this replacement will not bump me...

4 Replies and 762 Views New Solo event  762  4 Started by  Markwrx SCCA has come up with a new variation on autocross, Match Tour, as part of the revitalization of SCCA. Check it out here http://www.scca.com/solo/content.cfmcid=51267 It could be fun and I am sure some will give it a try for variety. In some areas where there are not a lot of events, it will be a good alternative. (here we have 9 groups using 7 venues for autocross within 2 hr of my house) Unfortunately, it is not a solution which will encourage more people to join SCCA. Not sure who at the...

11 Replies and 2186 Views SL 500 in Hstock?  2186  11 Started by  vtecyo This past weekend an SL500 showed up to ax. The rule book does not list it under any of the stock categories. Under H-Stock, the Merc section states: Any NOC. So... I guess that means an SL500 is technically H-Stock

9 Replies and 5758 Views 350z or Miata?  5758  9 Started by  moespeeds I've got a pretty solid motorcycle roadracing backround, racing CCS and WERA from '99-05 and teaching for a few local schools. This past weekend I got some time in cars at NJMP and now I'm hooked again. I'm looking for a car to get in cheap, just for track days at first. I was looking at a Mazda Miata, but then a friend told me to check out a Nissan 350z. I know the two cars are probably night and day, and I've never even sat in either, but what do you guys think I've owned 2 C5 vettes and a Vi...

17 Replies and 2955 Views Sneakers vs Drving Shoes  2955  17 Started by  David Lehman I ran an event this past Sunday, and I thought the tires were going off.....they were corded after my last run and maybe before. It was interesting that I ran slightly faster with slightly worse tires with a passenger, then I did before I took the passenger. With the passenger...and this was a low grip surface-----and driving with deadish tires.... Anyway, I think I tried to be smooth and not hammer the car with the passenger, as I didn't think I would beat my earlier 4 runs that were taken wit...

0 Replies and 544 Views raising the weight minimun in GP  544  0 Started by  Redfire The PAC is suggesting that 150 lbs be added to the Civics in GP will slow them down. not even close. I proposed the same weight penalty that the older cars have to carry - 1.22 lbs per cc that the older cars have to run is only fair. Remember in 2009 the GP class was formed just for the older technology, that lasted a year. The PAC also proposed a 2' wider track using an 8x14 wheel. This still gives a 6.3' wider front track and a 9' wider rear track. Do you think this makes for equal competition...

10 Replies and 1410 Views First full season - need to pick tires  1410  10 Started by  k_h_d If there is a more appropriate location for this post please let me know. Last year was my first season of auto crossing. I drive a 2012 Mini Cooper JCW. Its completely stock with the JCW sports suspension in D-Stock. I did fairly well within my local region and am looking for improvement with tires. I am going to buy a spare set of wheels w/ dedicated tires for 2013. I need to decide what type of tire to get. Can I run an R-compound tire like the Kumo V710 and still run in the stock class...

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I had a few questions about brakes and intake, as well as a few others. I couldn't find anything using the search function. So the car I want to run in the solo H-Stock is a 1999 Mazda 626 V6. - The rule book says the intake can be modified as long as new inlets aren't added, does that mean I can add an aftermarket intake, or only the filter ---If I can only change the filter, can I remove the extra bit of intake running before the filter - The rules on brakes are 'The make and material of bra...

2 Replies and 1552 Views 2013 Nat Tour/Pro schedule  1552  2 Started by  jrobinson the online version of Sports Car 1/2013 issue (i havent received in mail yet) has dates for national tour and prosolo. In the Ohio area, we're getting a tour at wilmington (june 15/16) and peru(august 3/4) and a pro at toledo(no date listed). I wonder if wilmington is getting on the runway, otherwise the employee lot thats been in use would be ok for a big group if there is additional space for paddock near by.

7 Replies and 1806 Views What would you do??- Tire size vs. compound vs. ride height  1806  7 Started by  flynbrian722 So, I would like some input from more experienced drivers on my options for next season. I have the option of using two different Hoosier R comps next year, The A6, and the Radial RR slick in R75 comp. The kicker is, O.E. tire diameter is 23.6' The R75 comp. dia. 23.5' A6 dia. 25.6' So do I run the harder R75, and not gain the additional 1' in ride height Or do I deal with the extra inch gain in ride height for the stickier A6 In addition, what is the significance in a one inch change in ride ...
