17 Replies and 9037 Views Need a Trailer that fits in a garage with a car on it  9037  17 Started by  STiylish Hi I am wondering if anyone has a trailer stored in their garage that can fit a Lotus Elise on it also in the garage. I am looking at getting a home that has a rather restrictive HOA which only allows trailers that are stored in closed garages. The house has a 2 car garage and I would like to find a open trailer that would allow driving a car onto the trailer to park it in the garage. Of course I could store the trailer next to the Lotus in the garage but then there would be no room for a d...

19 Replies and 4780 Views Need a tow vehicle, what's better than a 3/4 ton diesel dually?  4780  19 Started by  Outlaw26 A semi tractor. I can't believe that nobody is suggesting to everyone that a semi tractor, is actually more ideal for towing than a 3/4 dually diesel for towing. And, they can be had cheaper. LOL

8 Replies and 2040 Views Chevy Truck month  2040  8 Started by  BrianCunningham Someone sent me an email about a local Chevy dealer that had 75 '09 'King Cab' trucks they needed to sell by the end of the year. When I called them up and asked them what a Chevy 'King Cab' was (after finally reaching someone that spoke English!) they said they called them 'King Cabs' because of all the Ford they sold. OK On the other hand I found out what the Chevy truck month incentive is all about. It depends on how long the truck was on the lot, the longer it's been sitting ...

Well, next year my car's going to become a trailer queen as a pre-cursor for a Prepared class build. I've pretty much only got experience with small cars (So far I've owned a '91 Tracer, an 03 Protege, an 02 S2k and a 92 Miata lol) and very limited experience with tow vehicles (only driven 2 so far, neither of which are in my price bracket).I'm looking for something that will: -tow about 5000 lbs - in reality closer to 3500 tops, but I'd prefer the versatility of something that can go bigger -...

0 Replies and 1898 Views Dual car trailer for rent?  1898  0 Started by  evo8dad I am looking to rent a dual car trailer, preferably open but, needs to be a tag as the truck is not gooseneck equipped. A fellow Philly region mamber has offerred to haul my Evo out to Lincoln for Nationals, however, he is also competing with his Evo, hence the need for a dual car trailer. So far I'm not having too much luck and am hoping someone knows of someone with a dual car trailer willing to rent it out to me or know of a company that rents dual car trailers. I've found a ton of companies ...

14 Replies and 2803 Views Tires for Car Trailer  2803  14 Started by  toy4speed Been calling around for some tires for my enclosed car trailer. Familiar with the Goodyear Marathon, had them for a number of years, no complaints. Since we are making the long drive to Nats from the west coast, I wanted to carry a spare unmounted tire, just in case, but the Marathons seem unavailable. One shop told me that Goodyear is starting to have them made in China, and the price is up, design is identical to a cheaper tire brand (STC, I think). Called around some more, and even the Go...

Search hasn't seemed to work for the last few days.If the cash for clunkers bill passes I'm considering jumping off the fence and trading in my 88 C1500 for a midsize SUV that can tow a 3500 lbs car in an enclosed trailer. I'm considering a new AWD explorer with tow package. It's rated at around 7200 lbs. I'm also considering a Kia Borrego 4x4. It has some impressive numbers and can tow around 7500 lbs. Any thoughts Should I be looking at some other vehicles My price cap is 35K.

16 Replies and 5760 Views tow dolly tire rack?  5760  16 Started by  Primetime Glick This may sound crazy but I'm wondering if this is a viable alternative to a big heavy open trailer with a tirerack. Idea: dolly with fabricated H-frame welded to pole tongue with something like a 5' wide x 2.5' long x 4' high 4-tire rack/storage box Finish it off with diamondplate sheets, padlocked elbow latches, side access, and some sort of V-fairing. Benefits- it's still a dolly, with the storage advantages, lighter weight, and lower purchase cost over a conventional open steel trailer. ...

I bought an e150 conversion van with my business partner last year for $850 and threw a hitch and brake setup on it. We pulled out a seat and slept in it at the track. The old girl went 5,000 miles before this winter when all hell broke loose. I'm at the point where it isn't worthwhile to put a grand into a $850 van thats 20 years old. So it's time to update. My requirements are under $4,000, newer than 1992, capable of pulling 5,000 lbs, reliable, not ford, and something I can sleep in ...
