2 Replies and 15553 Views Need Suggestions, and maybe a car.  15553  2 Started by  skisoloii I need help, folks. My daughter gets her permit this August, and starts high school a month later. She's been running a kart for a few years, and wants to continue autocrossing (maybe with her Dad, Gxd forbid).  Looking to find an appropriate car for next year.  We have a few more requirements: I want her to be able to take it to high school and college if it lasts that long. So it needs to be small enough to not be a Party-mobile (Party Palace anyone), but it needs to be able to c...

6 Replies and 11831 Views 2013-16 2.5L Cadillac ATS?  11831  6 Started by  IndyIan Anyone seen one of these run around the cones  I'm considering getting one as its probably the best 4dr rwd chassis I can afford to DD.  I'm aware its not going to be fast, but I'm more concerned about the open diff.  There isn't one locally to try out unfortunately.  I'd think with reasonably stiff suspension and 50/50 weight distribution and only 200hp, it should put the power down pretty good. Lots of the automatic 2.0T and 3.6 cars will have an open rear diff too, so ma...

0 Replies and 667 Views In depth CAM coverage from Fontana ProSolo  667  0 Started by  Chad-1stGen I did my first ProSolo last weekend and had a blast.  A lot of pro touring guys, who helped inspire the CAM class, drag raced at some point.  ProSolo, with its mix of drag racing side by side launches and autocross seems like a perfect event for CAM cars.  Based on my searches through the 2016 ProSolo the 17 drivers we had in CAM cars at Fontana is the best turn out to date.  I'm hoping to see even more CAM drivers try ProSolo so I wanted to share the www.AutoXandTrack.com co...

6 Replies and 7637 Views Class help: 2003 Mustang w/ suspension swap  7637  6 Started by  MrRoarke  I'm preparing to do a complete front suspension swapout on my 2003 Mustang Mach 1 including tubular K-member, tubular A-arms  and Eibach coilovers. While the K-member is off the car, I'm also going to do a complete exhaust swap with long tube headers, catted X-pipe, and Flowmasters. My question is finding the Solo class the car will be in with the suspension changes. Having read the 2017 rules, I think I'm all the way down in Street Modified, but that seems extreme for what I'm doing...

6 Replies and 3616 Views Class & Mods on the 'Stang  3616  6 Started by  SidewaysStang Recently started a mustang project and have decided i would like to get into some road racing and autocross, likely starting in 2018. I have tried reading through the rule sets for SCCA racing, and have ended up more confused then when i started. Also, i have noticed some classes allow for subframe connectors with only 3...

2 Replies and 1805 Views New Guy seeking advice  1805  2 Started by  JamesPoe I purchased a 1997 5 speed Altima about 2 years ago, gave it to my bro in law and it is returned needing a clutch. Car runs fine inspire of 300k miles. Leaks from the front seal and front end is wore out. It's actually pretty complete. I've always been into cars and my wife and i reliable transportation. I have a few dollars to spend, but the pocket book definitely isn't open ended. This Altima is far from my dream car and will never be. Is it a waste of time to make needed suspension ...

5 Replies and 1887 Views Siphon/replace fuel  1887  5 Started by  Matth3w Is there a way to easily siphon and replace fuel before a race My 2016 Miata is my DD, so what I end up doing for the week before the race is filling up in like $2 increments. I'd rather just have an effective way to siphon and replace...preferably something via Amazon Prime since I live in Hawaii and it's ridiculous to ship here. I'm ok spending extra money (dedicated system vs. home-brewed solution).

1 Replies and 1405 Views Honda Civic downshift to 1st 180°?  1405  1 Started by  Drifter23 Hello to all of you users of SCCAforums.com I am wondering how can some drivers downshift to 1st so easy when getting to a 180° turn, i know some people think it is unnecesary, but when your talking about peaky engines like a civic, it is really helpfull to be able to use 1st specially at a 180° turn; I've even seen Mitsubishi Evo's doing it for this kind of turns, and its weird cuz in some in-car videos you just don't see them using double clutch or something like that, looks like a normal t...
