7 Replies and 8858 Views 2016 Ford Focus RS Classing?  8858  7 Started by  Lethal_427 Just wanted to get thoughts on what class the focus RS would end up in Would it compete in BS against the STI and the Evo or do you think it will fall into another class If not familiar with the car specs, 3460 curb weight, 350 hp and 350 tq, all wheel drive, will have 4 different drive modes including normal/sport/track/drift, plus it can push up to 70 of the power to the rear wheels. It should be interesting to see where this car ends up. Cheers, JJ

1 Replies and 4582 Views C4 Corvette Information  4582  1 Started by  DanKimber Some of this has probably been asked before, but a quick search of the forums didnt yield much. I am thinking about getting a C4, manual, LT1 engine car and looking for information from someone with more knowledge than me!! Is there anything from those years that stands out for a track day / autocross / daily driver car Multiple google searches have been telling me the Z51 suspension didnt come in the LT1 flavor until 1996...is that correct..and that the Z07 was the performance suspen...

4 Replies and 3750 Views Porsche Boxster S  3750  4 Started by  SBerguetski Hello and thanks in advance! I recently purchased a 2001 Porsche Boxster S. I would really like to find out how the car handles without driving like an a-hole on the street. Autocross was suggested to me, so here I am. First off, I have absolutely no racing experience so I really have no idea where to begin. This is a summer daily driver so I wont be doing many mods at all. Any input is greatly appreciated. Also, the car has Pirelli P-zero tires that need to be replaced. Should I stay with...

6 Replies and 5247 Views 2016 PAX/RTP Index is Released  5247  6 Started by  rtp.rick As some know, the new PAX/RTP factors for 2016 have been released. Since they were originally posted there have been some adjustments. The site’s new home is http://solotime.info/pax/rtp2016.html Thanks to Dave Whitworth and SPS for hosting the page. BTW, I expect there will be a completely separate ProSolo Index this year. It will most likely come out after the first of the year. Sorry about the late post here. I've had some issues with my home computer and this s...

1 Replies and 4031 Views KT100 or Briggs World Formula  4031  1 Started by  dpenn1 I'm new to autocross but have fixed up an older kart for my son to compete in the FJB class. He raced in two events in 2015 and did OK. He certainly has some improvement to do with driving skills but at the same time I feel his Kart isn't competitive. The rules allow clone engines in his class so we installed a Harbor Freight Predator engine. What I didn't realize at the time is the power difference from on engine to the other in his class. The rules don't allow any modifications other than...

0 Replies and 1016 Views 2015 “Solo Stats”  1016  0 Started by  spitfire4gp • I’ve already had several people inquiring about my 2015 “Solo Stats” book. It’s almost ready. 6 Replies and 3203 Views Roll cage question e mod open car  3203  6 Started by  midnightmoonlight I want to make sure my main hoop I need to build for my car will meet the rules for e mod open car. It might be hard to visualize with words but here goes. My wheel well is right behind my seat and to tie the main hoop into the frame under my seat I have two options. Run the hoop at a angle to the back of the car then over the back part of my head 2' above of course. Here is where the problem occurs the cross bar in the hoop would then have to be bent to clear the seat along with the straight...

5 Replies and 2604 Views overbuilt car, can I play?  2604  5 Started by  DogMobile Due to a head-on, I can no longer shift. My right hand presses buttons and I can barely shift a column shifter, and I won't be shifting a car again. I could buy a brand new car at this point, but that isn't my style. I've decided to 'commission' a classic Chevy and autocross it occasionally for fun. I'll budget $15K-$20K total, at least for the initial build. One way I figure is to pick up a near finished project and have a shop finish it. I just want to autocross as a legal way to flog a ...

3 Replies and 3878 Views Safety Steward question: Windows up or down - during a SCCA Solo run?  3878  3 Started by  Conekilla As the thread title indicates, what's the scca rulebook rule on this matter is it something SCCA dictates or the insurance company dictates (for that region) or the region has the final saying on what goes (yes vs no) I have seen some people run with their windows up. In a crash or just losing consciousness (out of the blue) or seizure or any other medical complication during a run, it'll be much harder to bring someone out of a 'window up' car vs. a window down. Also, someone a course wor...

3 Replies and 2269 Views Classing a VW New Beetle VR6  2269  3 Started by  cabriofanboy I have the opportunity to acquire a VR6 Engine and transmission. I plan to put it into my 2003 VW New Beetle. As far as classing goes, there is no production version of New Beetle with a VR6. There is an equivalent version of GTI. What class it belongs in will dictate how I build this project. I will have enough suspension mods that it would obviously be beyond street. I'm not quite sure if it would be in DSP in the 'catch-all' of 6-cyl N/A not classified, or something like Street Mod. because o...

9 Replies and 3080 Views swapping cars mid event at an solo question  3080  9 Started by  Itsa914 So the topic came up at one of our events about swapping cars mid event during a solo. Not because of a mechanical issue, but just to drive a different car. An example was given of driving a FP car then changing to a ASP car. Should the times ran in the ASP car be index at the FP index of ASP Tired looking up in the solo rules, but didn't find an answer. Maybe I missed it

4 Replies and 4360 Views Street tires better than r-compounds on dirty surfaces?  4360  4 Started by  Primetime Glick Does anyone think/know if street tires are an advantage over R-compounds on low-grip, dirty asphalt surfaces I'm pondering replacements for my hardened Z214 C71s and my excuse-laden gut tells me they evacuate gravel better, while I always feel like I'm 'skating' on my impacted-gravel-covered Z214s. Maybe streets are more predictable/consistent on dirty lots but offer a lower overall grip threshold FWIW I'm eyeballing RE71Rs. $150 savings over a set of 4, too. -Adam
