0 Replies and 630 Views Touring Car legal for Street Mod?  630  0 Started by  Mrsideways I've got a Road Race SCCA STU car. I want to run it in SSM locally but it's a big pain pulling the fire system to install a passenger seat and dig up carpet. I'm not going to take it to a big event just trying to come up with a chain of OK's so the locals can't protest it. Here is how I see it. Road Race Touring class vehicles are legal for Street Prepared. Street Prepared bumps to Street Mod. STU is Super 'TOURING' Under. I know it's fuzzy logic (but honestly does it have a chance, it's not ...

2 Replies and 2153 Views Sawing on the Wheel  2153  2 Started by  RavynX I started autocrossing in 2009 with my first and second S2000. I've built the car over the past 4 years for STR and I would say it's 90 complete for the class. My driving has improved over the years as I'm usually within top 10 in PAX locally and that's against a dozen or so nationally-competitive people (Crow, Burdette, Strelnicks, Hale, Vanderploeg, etc). It's a bit different when I get to National events as obviously the competition is more abundant. I'm wanting to trophy but I can't sto...

2 Replies and 2202 Views Tire Pressure and Wear Advice for C5 Z06  2202  2 Started by  KCblues I will be a 54 year old novice at Autocross this year in A Stock. My car is a very low mileage, 2004 Z06 that is fully stock except for air filter, brake pads, fluids and tires. It’s in amazing condition, 5,800 miles and feels like a time capsule. I plan to drive the car to local and regional events within about 4 hours of Kansas City. It’s also going to be a fair-weather daily driver. With those considerations I plan to leave the alignment at the stock settings this season. The first ...

0 Replies and 766 Views Moultrie Match Tour Deadline Extended  766  0 Started by  bruecksteve If you were on the fence and thought you missed the deadline, you are in luck. The deadline for the 120 entries is now Monday. We're currently at 115 and I know of two signing up today, so we need at least three more people to hit the minimum. In case you don't know, Moultrie is located in SW Georgia. The event is being held at Spence Field which is a very nice concrete site, and is being hosted by the Dixie Region which also host the National Tours at South Georgia Motorsports Park, and ...

1 Replies and 2099 Views Fire suits  2099  1 Started by  t walgamuth Hello folks. I have been thinking about the fact that my motor is inches away from my body with all its fuel lines etc. I am feeling a little vulnerable in case of fire and am thinking of a singlet to drive in. My question is how hot are these uniforms on say a 95 degree day with lots of humidity as we are often found with in the summer here in the corn belt... Tom Walgamuth

1 Replies and 1695 Views Getting back to racing  1695  1 Started by  Lomaxmotorsports After many years of being away from fast cars I have started building my next autocross car. I had a 95 neon I use to autocross a little but it was mostly used for drag racing. So now that I am working on a car I have been designing in my head for a few years I want to get back into racing. As most I am on a tight budget but I do have a pretty good selection of tools so I just hae to put in a lot of sweat equity! Ok so now to my question, the car I am building is an 1982 toyota tercel... But I h...

3 Replies and 1848 Views Looking for STR Co-Drive at Spring Nationals  1848  3 Started by  124Spider Hi, I'm looking for a co-drive in an STR car at Spring Nationals. I would prefer an S2000, but would consider anything. This would be for both the Tour and the Pro. I am not particularly fast, so no threat to take a trophy spot. I am easy on cars. Please let me know your terms. Thanks! Mark de Regt NWR

1 Replies and 1933 Views Tire Availability Deadline  1933  1 Started by  OZMDD I have recently submitted a letter to the SEB to request that the deadline for tires to be eligible for national competition be moved to the beginning of the season. While some years are worse than others, the past few have convinced me that it would be better to have a clear idea of what is on the table tire-wise before the season starts, as opposed to halfway through. This won't necessarily make a difference of what the manufacturers decide to produce and have available to purchase, but at lea...

0 Replies and 760 Views WTB - well sorted FJB Kart for local autocross events  760  0 Started by  Fstock125 My 10 year old son is starting to show interest in autocrossing and getting him into an FJB Kart is exactly what I think will get him hooked. He does fairly on the indoor courses so I think he is ready. I am really hoping to find one that has been well maintained and cared for and one that basically needs nothing to start racing. Extras (tires, parts, suit, gloves, helmet) would be a bonus as well but not a requirement. Best to reach me by cell four-one-Four 791-0618. Thanks.
