6 Replies and 3212 Views 2015 VW GTI w/ PP  3212  6 Started by  kyoo Any thoughts on whether this car will be DS or GS Looks like the Mk6 was only a bit slower than the FoSTs, and this car will have more power & much more torque, along with bigger brakes and a mechanical LSD. Will also be lighter. I think it was mentioned that they wouldn't split model packages (PP vs. non-PP), just curious.

5 Replies and 1734 Views Street class: remove plastic cowling  1734  5 Started by  djm1968 Is it permissible to remove the plastic cosmetic covering common on some vehicles  Specifically the plastic covers found in the 'front' on a Porsche Cayman: this covering is purely 'cosmetic', covering the battery, master cylinder.  The plastic is quite light and removing it certainly does not 'materially' reduce the weight of the vehicle.  Seems this might be covered under comfort and convenience allowance   Thanks, DJM

5 Replies and 1914 Views 350z C-Stock questions  1914  5 Started by  CoachMK21 This past year was my first in Solo.  I have a 2003 350z Performance model, 18x8 rims with the Brembo brake package.  The car came with a Injen CAI and needed new tires, so I got wider rims (18x8.5 F and 18x9.5 R) and Hankook RS-3 tires (245/265).  Last year I ran in STU.  I want to move to the stock class this year, so I found a stock airbox and will be getting new tires for the stock rims. I was talking with one of our pro drivers in my region (FLR) and he suggested the Di...

4 Replies and 1556 Views Question for D-Street Mini Owners Regarding Strut Brace  1556  4 Started by  danderso Hello Everyone.  New to the forums here, but a regular Autocross Racer here in Texas Region.  I currently run in D Street, and I have a question about the Mini Cooper S and JCW Strut Brace.  When I bought my car in 2012 this was an option from the order configurator at Mini.  At the time I didn't do it but would like to consider adding it after the fact to help with body roll.  I understand that if an option was 'Port Installed' then that makes it legal, such as the JC...

7 Replies and 2028 Views New car feedback  2028  7 Started by  tex320rcr I'm looking to but a new car early next year and have narrowed down to three. The 2015 WRX, 2015 GTI (with performance pack), or the FRS or BRZ. A little background, I have driven/raced a neon, bmw and Fmod in the past 8 years. Will probably stay in street for next couple of years before moving to touring. I'm not looking for any particular class, just a competitive car. Thanks.

6 Replies and 1449 Views Wheel size question  1449  6 Started by  Chriswd62 With the new wheel size rules in place for 2015, I'm trying to understand how it pertains to wheel width. I'm looking to pick up a new Golf R, (DS) which will be initially launched with 19x8 wheels, but the regular model to follow will have 18x7.5 in wheels. Does that mean I could run 18x8 in wheels or even 17x8

8 Replies and 1831 Views Catch Can ruling  1831  8 Started by  autox76 So What i am trying to find out is in the rules it states that you can use a catch can in Street(stock) Class. What i want to know is if a AOS would be ok as well since they do the same thing the only differece is that the AOS lets the oil drain back in to the oil pan. So would there be a problem with installing a AOS in Street( stock) class WRX.    thanks  AUTOx

7 Replies and 2455 Views Street class cars older than 30 yrs not allowed?  2455  7 Started by  ReijoAS A friend just stumbled across this rule:  (page 69): 'A car will remain eligible for National events through the end of the 30th  calendar year after the manufacturer-designated model year of the car.  This eligibility limitation applies only to the Street classes.' This means his stock '84 MR2 is no longer eligible to compete next year. Anyone know why this paragraph is in the rule book  Notably Corvettes, for example, can be found right back to the original one in the...

7 Replies and 4262 Views Current <200 street tires, outlook?  4262  7 Started by  OZMDD Does anyone have any info or thoughts on the fate of the current batch of soon-to-be-illegal street tires I love my Yokohama AD08R's, and I know the XS, R1R and others will soon be banned from ST and Street (please change it back to Stock!). Was thinking about this at nationals and since I got home - I wrote up a rough draft of a proposal, and thought I would bring it here to see what people thought. Warning: these are big changes, but I genuinely believe it would be good for SCCA and participation overall: Proposal for 2015 Solo Season Purpose: Class rearrangement for higher participation numbers for regional and national level events, as well as “phasing” out some older hard to find cars for newer ones. This ...

5 Replies and 1937 Views Genesis Coupe/370z classing and competitiveness  1937  5 Started by  coneassasin I've been playing around with the idea of buying a 14' gen coupe r spec for Street. It's pretty obvious that no one has spent any time developing these cars for street classes. I know there is an issue with good aftermarket dampers, but I think I've got that part figured out. My question is this: why is the 370z and Gen coupe not in the same class  The cars are very similar in size, weight, power, the one exception being that the gen coupe has narrower wheels.  Those difference...

12 Replies and 2624 Views NA Solstice in BS ?  2624  12 Started by  sam8white 1st, let me say I'm not a serious solo'er.   I'm a serious road racer, familiar w/ road race GCR, not Solo. But I would appreciate a serious answer.............   I very occasionally compete with a bone stock NA Solstice,  with a local group that uses primarily SCCA rules, except they've kept R compound tires out of Stock classes.   Sounds like the new Street classes intent.....based on the little I've recently learned. Last couple years, I was classed CS, and against MX5...
