15 Replies and 5227 Views 2015 Mustang order thoughts ?  5227  15 Started by  murphyslaww I'm swaying back and forth on picking up an E46 M3 and buying my first Muscle car(Mid-life crisis time). The 2015 mustang has my interest, but some of the ordering peculiarities are getting in the way for me a bit. looks like I can't get a non-premium, non performance pack GT and upgrade the wheels beyond 18x8 per the street rules as that's the only way you can buy them, at least by the website. $33k The performance pack puts you into a 3.73 final drive, w...

1 Replies and 2830 Views E-Street MR2 Tires for 2015  2830  1 Started by  Fishnchip Hi All My co-driver finally bought himself a toy of his own to flog around the courses, and I am trying to help him with the best set-up possible. He ended up getting an 04 MR2 Spyder. Now, from what ive been able to find, the 195/50 x 15 tires were the special sauce tires formerly. With the R1R's now coming in 200TW, are the new 195/55 x 15 tires now the ones to have, or is the jury still out Will these need to be/should be shaved Thanks! Norm

10 Replies and 3070 Views Gear ratio changes  3070  10 Started by  dieselmax I am hoping I can find some expertise on the subject as I can't seem to find an answer in scca website rule book. What I've heard is that gear changes are only allowed if there was an optional gearing ratio from factory. So I have a 14 V6 mustang (base model) with 2.73 gears and 17x7 40mm offset wheels, now the 11-14 V6 mustangs came with two different packages on top of the base model that I have. 1: Pony, Premium, or appearance package (just different names for the same thing) -18x8 44mm offs...

3 Replies and 2427 Views Struts? - 2012 WRX STI running Street Stock Class  2427  3 Started by  lcdemack Noting the Solo Street (BS) rules basically state, aftermarket struts can be run if geometry of aftermarket strut replicates OEM strut, and springs used are specifically the OEM units. Accordingly, does anyone know if the geometry of these Bilstein struts matches the OEM units for the 2012 STI wagon

2 Replies and 2533 Views Wheel spacers  2533  2 Started by  djm1968 I run my '12 Cayman R is Super Street and am looking to According to SCCA rules, I am allowed to use wheel spacers of /- 7mm. Porsche offered 5mm spacers as an option for my model, which I am allowed to add to the 7mm already allotted by the rules, correct My track wheels have 2mm less backspacing than the OEM wheel, so minus 2mm of spacer would be required to compensate, correct 7mm per SS rules on using spacers 5mm per SS rules for OEM spacers -2mm for using wheels with 2mm less b...

6 Replies and 3875 Views g-Force Rival 2015 Compound Tweak?  3875  6 Started by  danderso I have heard from two different people who are fairly plugged in to the SCCA national scene that there is a compound tweak coming to the g-Force Rival for 2015. Is this true and if so what's the timing I haven't been able to find anything to this effect documented on the Internet and calls to both Tire Rack and Michelin Customer Care had them both tell me aside from new sizes for 2015 they were not aware of any other changes to the compound. Trying to figure this out before I buy a new s...

4 Replies and 2882 Views 2014 Mustang which class?  2882  4 Started by  Fastie Looking over the results from the last Nationals, it seems F stock maybe the way to go for my Mustang, but wondering if I have any other options or suggestions.  Yes, I bought a car the last year BEFORE it went to IRS, but I love the looks of the older style and it was my last chance to get one new.  So, with that in mind, I know the 1LE will beat me, but I just want to go out there and have some fun.  And at about $10K cheaper (seriously amazing incentives) than 2015 Mustang or...

21 Replies and 3603 Views Comfort and convenience opinion-Window Louvers  3603  21 Started by  jj2218
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I have a '14 Mustang GT base which I am planning to use for F-street. The stock wheel width is 8', but there was an 'FP8 Appearance Pack' available as a stand alone option which came with 8.5' wheels. This option also came with window louvers in the package. To do the update/backdate, could I just delete the window louvers under comfort and convenience, and run without them thanks. PS- I am looking for 18 x 8.5' wheels for sale. Possibly yellow konis also.

6 Replies and 2779 Views Falken AZENIS RT615K as Cold Weather Tire  2779  6 Started by  danderso I have come across a set of Falken AZENIS RT615K tires that I won in a local region contingency. I want to put them to use for this upcoming season. I run in Texas where we have a wide variety of weather from very hot to near freezing in the spring and fall months on any given weekend. For hot weather events I am planning to run Rivals or Kooks, but curious how these AZENIS RT615K tires from Falken do in the cold and/or wet How do they handle the cold vs, hot, vs wet thanks in advance. ...

4 Replies and 2101 Views Subframe cracks on E46 M3s  2101  4 Started by  sotti I probably shouldn't be too worried since I'll never be nationally competitive, but my M3 just started developing it's notorious subframe mount cracks. The fix is to drop everything off the car and weld the cracks and weld up reinforcement plates. Is this sort of thing typically allowed It's not really a performance improvement, it just keeps the car from tearing itself apart, it's adding weight. With as frequently as these cars are having issues, I would think that this has come up befor...

6 Replies and 4148 Views 2015 VW GTI w/ PP  4148  6 Started by  Q Any thoughts on whether this car will be DS or GS Looks like the Mk6 was only a bit slower than the FoSTs, and this car will have more power & much more torque, along with bigger brakes and a mechanical LSD. Will also be lighter. I think it was mentioned that they wouldn't split model packages (PP vs. non-PP), just curious.

5 Replies and 2004 Views Street class: remove plastic cowling  2004  5 Started by  djm1968 Is it permissible to remove the plastic cosmetic covering common on some vehicles  Specifically the plastic covers found in the 'front' on a Porsche Cayman: this covering is purely 'cosmetic', covering the battery, master cylinder.  The plastic is quite light and removing it certainly does not 'materially' reduce the weight of the vehicle.  Seems this might be covered under comfort and convenience allowance   Thanks, DJM

5 Replies and 2205 Views 350z C-Stock questions  2205  5 Started by  Mark This past year was my first in Solo.  I have a 2003 350z Performance model, 18x8 rims with the Brembo brake package.  The car came with a Injen CAI and needed new tires, so I got wider rims (18x8.5 F and 18x9.5 R) and Hankook RS-3 tires (245/265).  Last year I ran in STU.  I want to move to the stock class this year, so I found a stock airbox and will be getting new tires for the stock rims. I was talking with one of our pro drivers in my region (FLR) and he suggested the Di...

4 Replies and 1896 Views Question for D-Street Mini Owners Regarding Strut Brace  1896  4 Started by  danderso Hello Everyone.  New to the forums here, but a regular Autocross Racer here in Texas Region.  I currently run in D Street, and I have a question about the Mini Cooper S and JCW Strut Brace.  When I bought my car in 2012 this was an option from the order configurator at Mini.  At the time I didn't do it but would like to consider adding it after the fact to help with body roll.  I understand that if an option was 'Port Installed' then that makes it legal, such as the JC...

7 Replies and 2322 Views New car feedback  2322  7 Started by  paul I'm looking to but a new car early next year and have narrowed down to three. The 2015 WRX, 2015 GTI (with performance pack), or the FRS or BRZ. A little background, I have driven/raced a neon, bmw and Fmod in the past 8 years. Will probably stay in street for next couple of years before moving to touring. I'm not looking for any particular class, just a competitive car. Thanks.
