2 Replies and 1587 Views Mazda RX-8 in C-Street and STX BMW project [videos]  1587  2 Started by  justinco Hey all, I thought I would share some of my autocross videos with fellow enthusiasts I am currently co-driving a 2006 Mazda RX-8 in the C-Street class while I build up my 1994 BMW 325is for STX. I plan on doing a season long video series of our Rocky Mountain Solo championship series, from my point of view in C-Street. My STX project is coming along (some may have seen posts on other forums) and I hope to have it somewhat prepped by the end of summer! Hope you enjoy!  Latest RX-8 event, f...

3 Replies and 1791 Views Volvo S60 T6 allowed in GS?!?  1791  3 Started by  ViperTGB There is no way this can be right. A 6 cylinder AWD Turbo car under 4,000 lbs competing against things like non-tubro mazda6's, altima's, sentra's, and non-turbo imprezza's. Looking at the specs for the Volvo I can't imagine it being classed anything less than ES.  Looking in DS and seeing very close competitors for the Volvo like the Mazdaspeed6, Eagle Talon AWD, Eclipse GSX, Audi TT quattro makes me think it probably belongs here in DS. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this beast b...

11 Replies and 10674 Views C5 Z06 Optimal Wheel and Tire Sizes for 2015 rules  10674  11 Started by  Blake Wilson I picked up a 2003 C5 Z06 and am trying to figure out how to set up the tires/wheels for Solo 2.  I went to an event this weekend and saw someone running stock 17x9.5 F and 18x10.5 R wheels with 255/40/17 front and 315/30/18 rears with BFG Rivals.  The fronts are limited in width by sizes that BFG makes for 17 inch wheels. Since we can change wheel diameter by /-1 inch I'm thinking to buy some wheels that are 18x9.5 F and 18x10.5 R which opens up the front tire options. If I do...

2 Replies and 1519 Views DS Audi TT what to look for?  1519  2 Started by  Tom Capelo I saw that the 2008 Audi TT did well in 2013 in DS. Is there something special about the 2008, or was that just a statistics of small numbers kind of thing Anything special I should look for in one to buy I gather the 3.2 V6 is the motor to have. Many thanks for the advice. A little bit about me: I have done years of autocrossing with a 4th gen Camaro in FS, and a PT Cruiser GT Turbo in GS. We want a TT as a daily driver, AWD would be nice for snow, and it would be fun to have a shot at 1st i...

6 Replies and 1441 Views GS - Shocks for a 07 Altima 3.5SE  1441  6 Started by  Silver Bullet I can't find any decent shocks for my 07 Altima 3.5SE.  Anyone have any links to help in my search Mods so far: -Racingline rear swaybar and endlinks -225/50/16 BFG Rival tires (I'm assuming getting the car lower to the ground with 16' rims is a good idea) -Max rear toe out at the rear I only have one event with the new rear bar but the car seems to more neutral and it has less front wheel spin now coming out of corners.  I used to race a modified WRX in SM so this car feels lik...

2 Replies and 1411 Views Flipping Rivals  1411  2 Started by  bregganie Has anyone tried flipping a Rival after wearing down the outside shoulder. On the larger tires the inside tread blocks are pretty large. Doesn't look like there would be much of a lose in performance.

4 Replies and 5172 Views 2015 VW GTI potential  5172  4 Started by  jrowney I am considering buying the new 2015 GTI for a combo daily driver and stock autox car. Had a lot of success road racing and autocrossing the originals many years ago (had both an 83 and 86).  Any opinions on whether it will remain in GS  Or maybe will they put the base in GS, and the performance pack with LSD in DS  My biggest worry is the skid control system. The 2015 lets you turn off the traction control, but keeps some type of electronic skid control in p...

As I read through the 2014 draft rules it appears that the BMW 3-series (2004 BMW 330Ci ZHP in particular) has been moved from D Stock to F Street.  Is this accurate Thanks, Tom

35 Replies and 3250 Views Proposal for allowance of any rotor to be used with OEM caliper  3250  35 Started by  MrAWD
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I have been burned with the current rule on rotor allowance in Stock/Street and after thinking a bit more about this rule, less and less sense I see in it. It allows the after-market ones to be used, but they have to be almost identical to the OEM. This is the first problem with this allowance - nobody makes replacements that are identical to those! Well, I am sure there are cars that can use existing rule in their favor since there are such rotors available out there. For most of the newer cars...

8 Replies and 2124 Views Z06 Classing Question  2124  8 Started by  beansandrice I just picked up a used 2006 C6 Corvette Z06.  I want to run it in solo.  I've been out of the game for a while so I am a bit confused by the new rules.  Based on what I have read stock C6 Z06 is in AS, if I run a 140 treadwear or higher tire.  If I run Hoosier A6s then the car goes into SS R.  If I leave the K&N cold air on the car that it had on it when I bought it, then the car goes into SSP.  Is this accurate. Also I can't find any good 140 or 200 treadwear...

1 Replies and 1174 Views Car classification (again)  1174  1 Started by  coneassasin I signed up for H-street for Crows Landing Nats this year.... in my Hyundai Elantra. I figured the car was H street because the only class which has NOC Hyundai was H.... reading the rule book again, I see that NOC cars CANNOT participate in national or pro events. Am I SOL on this Or is there some class I can put the car in so I can actually compete and not get torn up or have SP pax

4 Replies and 1798 Views Strange RS3 tire wear after one event...  1798  4 Started by  MrAWD Here is the picture of this strange wear that I was getting over the weekend event: The left side is on outside and you can clearly see lot more heat effect to that side of the thread. Interesting part happens for the two section on the side of the middle ring that have those curvy impressions. As you can see the one on the right side (inside edge) shows more wear than the one on the left side which is closer to the outside section that got lots of use. Anyone has any idea what would mak...

4 Replies and 2125 Views Effect of race tire -> street tire switch for stock cars  2125  4 Started by  MrAWD Just finished my first event with street tires and have some data to compare to last year racing in the same car on Hoosiers. Hoosiers that were used last year on 8.5' rims were 285/30/18s, while street tires are Hankooks RS3 275/35/18s. Car was pretty much identical to last year except extra 0.5 degree of negative camber for the rear and finally clean air filter! What made me to write this is that I found car to behave much better on street compared to the race tires. And major difference was...

7 Replies and 3666 Views Staying in Class with minor mods? C Class  3666  7 Started by  SickAp1 My question is for my Stock C class -   I am currently running a completely stock 01' Honda S2000 - The thing that I want to ask is what are the mods allowed to stay in street C class. Today was my first event and I was competing against another S2000 with carbon fiber Hood,Trunk, Exhaust and AP2 17' wheels from the stock 16' (2004-2009 wheels) which makes a drastic impact on the car. I was wondering if I buy non OEM wheels will it bump me up  or do the rims have to be OEM variat...
