35 Replies and 2676 Views Proposal for allowance of any rotor to be used with OEM caliper  2676  35 Started by  MrAWD
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I have been burned with the current rule on rotor allowance in Stock/Street and after thinking a bit more about this rule, less and less sense I see in it. It allows the after-market ones to be used, but they have to be almost identical to the OEM. This is the first problem with this allowance - nobody makes replacements that are identical to those! Well, I am sure there are cars that can use existing rule in their favor since there are such rotors available out there. For most of the newer cars...

8 Replies and 1712 Views Z06 Classing Question  1712  8 Started by  beansandrice I just picked up a used 2006 C6 Corvette Z06.  I want to run it in solo.  I've been out of the game for a while so I am a bit confused by the new rules.  Based on what I have read stock C6 Z06 is in AS, if I run a 140 treadwear or higher tire.  If I run Hoosier A6s then the car goes into SS R.  If I leave the K&N cold air on the car that it had on it when I bought it, then the car goes into SSP.  Is this accurate. Also I can't find any good 140 or 200 treadwear...

4 Replies and 1592 Views Strange RS3 tire wear after one event...  1592  4 Started by  MrAWD Here is the picture of this strange wear that I was getting over the weekend event: The left side is on outside and you can clearly see lot more heat effect to that side of the thread. Interesting part happens for the two section on the side of the middle ring that have those curvy impressions. As you can see the one on the right side (inside edge) shows more wear than the one on the left side which is closer to the outside section that got lots of use. Anyone has any idea what would mak...

4 Replies and 1897 Views Effect of race tire -> street tire switch for stock cars  1897  4 Started by  MrAWD Just finished my first event with street tires and have some data to compare to last year racing in the same car on Hoosiers. Hoosiers that were used last year on 8.5' rims were 285/30/18s, while street tires are Hankooks RS3 275/35/18s. Car was pretty much identical to last year except extra 0.5 degree of negative camber for the rear and finally clean air filter! What made me to write this is that I found car to behave much better on street compared to the race tires. And major difference was...

7 Replies and 2830 Views Staying in Class with minor mods? C Class  2830  7 Started by  SickAp1 My question is for my Stock C class -   I am currently running a completely stock 01' Honda S2000 - The thing that I want to ask is what are the mods allowed to stay in street C class. Today was my first event and I was competing against another S2000 with carbon fiber Hood,Trunk, Exhaust and AP2 17' wheels from the stock 16' (2004-2009 wheels) which makes a drastic impact on the car. I was wondering if I buy non OEM wheels will it bump me up  or do the rims have to be OEM variat...

75 Replies and 8690 Views 1/-1 Wheel Rule  8690  75 Started by  Adam303
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 3 4 )
1/-1 could've been based off the standard O.E. wheel size only, and state optional wheels do not qualify for 1/-1.  The spirit of the rule was to help people who do not have the luxury of 2-3 wheel size options, and don't have competitive tires in their size (diameter), not to help the lucky few put wider wheels on their 'street' car while maintaining the same diameter.  Discuss......

15 Replies and 3003 Views Brake rotor replacement rules for Street classes?  3003  15 Started by  MrAWD I am wondering if there is any other option aside from OEM to get your rotors replaced. The bad part is that my car came with two piece units in the front and most of the things that I could see aftermarket are slightly different. They go to variation of things like stating harder materials, orientation of the vent parts in the middle, and so on. Most of them are also of slightly different shape where connection between the outer steel ring and middle aluminum part is made. I guess, fastener bol...

17 Replies and 1625 Views Rookie Season Questions  1625  17 Started by  2014VWGLI So I've recently purchased a 2014 Jetta GLI with no original intentions to autocross it at all (Family car). Over the past few weeks and a ride in my friends Porsche GT3, I've been thinking about getting into it.  I went to one event last year at FedEx Field in DC. This is where I will be racing for the 2014 season. I've been reading up on the rules and regs for classing and modifications that are allowed. I just wanted to get a few pointers on tires, pressures, and exactly what parts I sho...

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
The order system officially opened today for the 2015 WRX.  What class in the Street category do you think it will fall in  It's no faster strait-line than the outgoing model, but reviewers universally praise the handling improvements.  Power band improvements and shorter gearing mean it should get out of slow corners better, but it also runs out of revs at ~60 in second gear where the 11-14 would pull into the mid 60s without having to shift to 3rd.  Its ~60 lbs heavier tha...

3 Replies and 2732 Views 200 treadwear tire recommendations  2732  3 Started by  teacherdan I spent this season campaigning my 13 Miata Club edition as it came from the dealer/factory (so RCS).  I'm absolutely loving it, and am really enjoying the challenge. For next season I'd like to change out the stock tires.  I'm a middle of the pack guy, and don't see myself getting close to being competitive in Street, so I feel like buying a 200 treadwear tire would be a good idea. Is there a '200' tire out there that will keep me mid-pack or better Thanks for any and all advice.

Cons: Ive been snooping around and have not found any off the shelf 17' wheels that would fit, other than older factory (heavy) wheels for other BMWs. Might change gearing too much. Other Richard
