15 Replies and 3480 Views Brake rotor replacement rules for Street classes?  3480  15 Started by  MrAWD I am wondering if there is any other option aside from OEM to get your rotors replaced. The bad part is that my car came with two piece units in the front and most of the things that I could see aftermarket are slightly different. They go to variation of things like stating harder materials, orientation of the vent parts in the middle, and so on. Most of them are also of slightly different shape where connection between the outer steel ring and middle aluminum part is made. I guess, fastener bol...

5 Replies and 1731 Views Question on Street Class and front Spoiler  1731  5 Started by  TecShdw Hello, I'm trying to determine if buying a front spoiler for my Focus ST would put me in some other modified class instead of Street/Stock class.  According to rule 13.2.A-Bodywork it seems it would be ok provided it gives no performance benefit.  I don't believe it would nor is it listed as such. Here is the part in question  -  - Any help is appreciated!

17 Replies and 1808 Views Rookie Season Questions  1808  17 Started by  2014VWGLI So I've recently purchased a 2014 Jetta GLI with no original intentions to autocross it at all (Family car). Over the past few weeks and a ride in my friends Porsche GT3, I've been thinking about getting into it.  I went to one event last year at FedEx Field in DC. This is where I will be racing for the 2014 season. I've been reading up on the rules and regs for classing and modifications that are allowed. I just wanted to get a few pointers on tires, pressures, and exactly what parts I sho...

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
The order system officially opened today for the 2015 WRX.  What class in the Street category do you think it will fall in  It's no faster strait-line than the outgoing model, but reviewers universally praise the handling improvements.  Power band improvements and shorter gearing mean it should get out of slow corners better, but it also runs out of revs at ~60 in second gear where the 11-14 would pull into the mid 60s without having to shift to 3rd.  Its ~60 lbs heavier tha...

3 Replies and 2942 Views 200 treadwear tire recommendations  2942  3 Started by  teacherdan I spent this season campaigning my 13 Miata Club edition as it came from the dealer/factory (so RCS).  I'm absolutely loving it, and am really enjoying the challenge. For next season I'd like to change out the stock tires.  I'm a middle of the pack guy, and don't see myself getting close to being competitive in Street, so I feel like buying a 200 treadwear tire would be a good idea. Is there a '200' tire out there that will keep me mid-pack or better Thanks for any and all advice.

7 Replies and 1346 Views Prothane Inserts  1346  7 Started by  Drm12 Hello, I am new here and am sorry if this has been asked.  I am a bit confused by the new rules.  I have an old Saturn SL2 and I am considering trying it out in Stock (Street) class.  Unfortunately, the OEM rubber material inside the engine torque strut mount is torn and I need to replace it.  The main OEM rubber section does not completely fill the mount enclosure.  I would like to repair the mounts (trany has one too) with Prothane inserts (which are so...

Cons: Ive been snooping around and have not found any off the shelf 17' wheels that would fit, other than older factory (heavy) wheels for other BMWs. Might change gearing too much. Other Richard

4 Replies and 1433 Views Staggering tire sizes and brand  1433  4 Started by  Cligedy I will be running a Fiesta ST this season. The car is new enough that there is still some question about what tires could fit on the FiST, and because I have limited funding, I made the decision to buy a pair of the 225/50 Rivals and 225/45 Dunlop Z2. I liked the idea of getting a few extra mph at the top of second with the Rivals, but was worried that they wouldn't fit. Now that I have fitted them, the Rivals rub near full lock, but I don't expect that to be an issue. If I had known for s...

1 Replies and 1363 Views STM Aluminum Exhaust  1363  1 Started by  cretinx STM recently prepared a custom aluminum exhaust for my RX-8. The exhaust was built for SCCA Autocross 'Stock' class competition.  This means it can be replaced from the catalytic converter backwards, and must comply with a 95 db sound limit.  It must exit the stock exhaust location. We went from a dual to a single setup.  They used thick wall aluminum with their welding expertise, retained the factory resonator and went with a single muffler.  The ...

11 Replies and 3591 Views B Stock, Corvette ZR1 in autocross? Why don't we see them?  3591  11 Started by  Arachnyd I currently run a Stock C5. I was thinking about picking up a C4 Z51 because they seem pretty competitive in B-Stock plus I love them, but came across a great deal on a C4 ZR1. I see some non-ZR1s which have competed competitively in BS nationally, but can't figure out why I've never seen a ZR1 raced competitively. Its not listed as a excluded car, and on paper it looks like it would be incredibly effective as a competitive BS car. Now days they are about the same price as a base&n...

I have a 2011 WRX that I was able to finally make it to an event in and I had a blast, it's definitely something I'd love to do more of.  I caught an event in NC even though it was the tail end of the season, I'll have the winter to plan my participation for next year.   I travel for work, at least for now.  The reason this is relevant is because my WRX is my only car, and I drive it everywhere... a lot.  Without running out to check I think I'm between 75-...
