35 Replies and 38075 Views Would you support head/cam swaps in SP?  38075  35 Started by  SMSupercoupe
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
Just out of curiosity: How many in *SP would be in favor of aftermarket cams How about aftermarket valve springs/retainers How about porting & polishing stock head castings How about aftermarket head castings Obviously, the cost of building a car would go up, so there's one good reason to oppose it. But personally, I'd probably support it, since I think it would be a lot of fun. Thoughts I don't want to write any letters at the moment, but I do want to see what others in SP have t...

4 Replies and 72635 Views RX7 w/ Engine Swap Classication  72635  4 Started by  Never7 Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum, but have been autocrossing as a hobby for years now. Before I started the hobby, I had an engine swap for my 2nd-gen RX-7 FC (old engine expired). This engine was also a 13B, but sourced out of a 3rd-gen RX-7 FD. Aside from the ECU, the engine was almost a direct drop-in with new engine mounts to match my car. The rest of the car is essentially full of bolt-on upgrades, with a full stock interior aside from a newer steering (i.e. not a full-prep race car...

0 Replies and 739 Views Fuel Pressure Regulator allowed?  739  0 Started by  Der Wankel Are aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulators legal for Street Prepared class   You would think this would be straight forward, but the SCCA solo rules lack consistency in phrasing.   '15.10.C.1. Carburetors, fuel injection, and intake manifolds are unrestricted subject to 15.10.D.'   Great!  Fuel Pressure Regulators are legal because they are an integral part of fuel injection which is unrestricted. Maybe not because elsewhere in the Street Prepared rules fuel lines, fuel...

1 Replies and 6082 Views Max Tire and Wheel on a 95 Camaro  6082  1 Started by  DanKimber Tried doing some searches, but the forum kept crashing. Will a 17X11 rim with a 315 tire fit on all four corners of a 95 camaro Looking at it for STP, but thought it would be better to ask over here. I am thinking C4 Grand Sport Rims and 315s or going back to 17X9 camaro SS rims, with 275s. Thanks, Dan

1 Replies and 12723 Views Live rear axle sway bar  12723  1 Started by  BillyBoB4869 Hi, I currently run ESP in a 2011 Mustang GT. My current suspension mods include 1.5inch lowering springs and shocks to accommodate the lower ride height and a Whiteline front sway bar. I run 295 30 18 BFG R1-S on all four wheels. I am currently considering if a newer/stiffer whiteline rear bar would help or hurt my setup. I get conflicting stories when I ask others at autocross events. The courses I generally run are short and tight. Any insight is much appreciated.

2 Replies and 6934 Views Subclassing new guy  6934  2 Started by  170-3tree Hey all. I've determined that my Chevy cruze will go into the SPF class, but it sounds like some people slip into another level of sp on accident. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but is there something I can do that will move me to another section of sp without doing anything more than boly ons and standard upgrades Thank you Gerald

0 Replies and 1852 Views Hankook z214 c91 compound legality.  1852  0 Started by  turboz523 I've been running these tires locally for about a season now and seem to give every bit as much grip as the Hoosier A6's I've run in the past. I've also tried the c71 compound and they don't have the same grip level as the A6. I'm planning on bringing the car to Lincoln this year and I want clarification as to whether or not the Hankook is legal or not. They only make the c91 compound in one tire size but technically its still a z214 tire. The rule states at least 4 different diameters of ti...

12 Replies and 12414 Views Mustang IRS swap  12414  12 Started by  SN95.ohh I have a 1994 Mustang with a 2003 Cobra IRS. I want to clarify whether or not this swap is legal in ESP. After reading the rules over and over I have convinced myself that it is legal through the updating rules.   Both cars are on the same line in Appendix A: Mustang (SN95 chassis, NOC including Cobra & Cobra R) (1994-2004) And this line from the rulebook convinced me as well 'Porsche 911 models that are listed on the same line are considered the same.' Any body have a...

4 Replies and 8709 Views 98-02 WS6 Trans Am - why so few running in ESP?  8709  4 Started by  coneassasin I've been considering switching from a 3rd gen Camaro to a 4th gen for some time now. The only 3rd gen in ESP at nationals this year showed me that, while the car has the handling prowess to get around the cones, it simply doesn't have the power needed for some of the courses. Newer Mustangs coming from the factory with 400 HP easily puts any 3rd gen besides Madarash's out for the count, I don't think Sam could even push one to a win these days.  So I want more power, and I proven chassis...

Just saw the latest Fast track and even though I have heard that proposal was aiming WRXs, just realized that DSMs are actually a target as well. So, after almost 30 years of being part of the class, V8 guys have figured out again that those AWD cars are not good for the class! Pathetic is the only word that comes to my mind right now, but really How low this should really go Fedja
