1 Replies and 532 Views Interior mods in DSP??  532  1 Started by  vuu16v Now that STR is no longer I'm moving up to DSP in my '91 16v GTi. I'm fresh out of mod money so I need to know about weight savings. Can you delete the rear interior bits (seats, carpet, trim, etc.) Also, what class does a new, lower R&P and internal engine work take you up to

7 Replies and 659 Views 318ti classification -- NOCified...  659  7 Started by  Andy 02 Hi all,I've got a '95 318ti I'm just getting into SP trim. Classification seems a little funny, tho'. It looks like it could be in DSP (3 series 16V NOC)FSP (318 NOC) It's got the factory LSD, so I can't be in ST.Wierd part is looking at the stock rules for this car, they list:(GS) 318tii 95 (stop me if I'm wrong, but no such thing exists!)(GS) 318is 91 (probably most similar car, same engine but still an e30 vs an e36)(HS) 318 NOCComments appreciated here. 5 Replies and 689 Views All 93-2001 f-bodies. Look here for more negetive camber.  689  5 Started by  LonsESPZ/28 If the interest is there Sam Strano of Strano Performance says that he will make up a set of offset bushings for the lower control arms. This will give us more negetive camber. If I remember right the max is -1.5 on a car lowered 1.5-2' So if you are interested post here. There is also a topic in the autocross and road race sections of CamaroZ/ and LS1.COM

1 Replies and 566 Views Brakes - weight vs power  566  1 Started by  The_Winch My 98 front Cobra brakes weigh 3.5 lbs less than my 95 V6 front brakes - so it's easy which to pick.My 98 rear Cobra brakes weigh 8.1 lbs MORE than my 95 V6 rear brakes - not sure what to do.This is a very autocross only ESP car, stripped for minimal weight... and I need to keep it light.I can use brake pads and brake bias adjuster to change the rear braking power, but I'm not sure how much this is necessary... I thought the front Cobra brakes provide so much braking power it wouldn't be that im...

1 Replies and 620 Views DSM going to DSP  620  1 Started by  DBurkhead After much consideration, I've decided to take my '91 Eclipse into DSP. Although, in stock trim, it's being reclassed into HS for next year, I still don't think it's a likely candidate there. I also think the 2.0L engine gives up too much power to cars that aren't that much heavier. If this car is ever going to be competitive, I figure it will be in DSP.First upgrade to look at is tires and wheels. I'm running 225/50 ZR16's right now. At the moment, my best bet to go to is 255/40 ZR17. Ano...

0 Replies and 622 Views Swaintech engine coatings......  622  0 Started by  pgb2 After visiting Swaintech's site ( I reviewed the rules for Solo II SP and it seems obvious that the appropriate coatings would be OK for intake and exhaust manifolds. Question is, would their stuff for internal engine parts be legal or not under the 'modification not specifically authorized' clause

8 Replies and 727 Views motor mount question  727  8 Started by  Eric16v What if VW no longer makes the type of motor mount you have, but another company starts to make a replacement bushing for that type of mount. This new bushing is not made of rubber however, instead of poly. Is the poly legal in SP since I can no longer get a rubber factory or aftermarket one

8 Replies and 785 Views Finding wheels and tires  785  8 Started by  DBurkhead In an earlier post, I listed some ideas on tires and wheels for my Eclipse going to DSP. Come to find out the sales guy at Tirerack says they haven't got anything even close. The two options I am looking at are:255/40 ZR17 tires on 17X7-17X8 rims with a 30 mm offset. (This combination would be for both street and competition.)315/35 ZR 17 tires on 17X8 or 17X9 rims with an offset of close to 0. (This combination would be competition only.)Either combination would require some bodywork for cle...

2 Replies and 639 Views CSP motor build questions  639  2 Started by  solorexer I am probably going to do a motor build on my 2nd gen CRX over the winter and have a couple of questions for those that know the engine rules better than I. STR makes an insert that goes between the cylinder walls in the water jacket to prevent cylinder flex at high RPM. Does this fit into CSP engine rules I am interested only to help prevent grenading my freshly built motor, I doubt it has huge performance gains. Also, are head gaskets of thicknesses and/or materials different from stock a...
