0 Replies and 2061 Views Rear Rocker Arm/Cantilever Suspension Design  2061  0 Started by  JimmyNX Hi everyone, I have been toying with the idea of converting my rear suspension in my Datsun 510 to a rocker arm/cantilever style rear suspension. I am looking for anyone to point me in the right direction as far as reading material ( an actually book would be nice ), however I am open to anyone helping me out on this thread as well. The Datsun 510 utilizes a semi rear trailing arm suspension, where it is prone to camber/toe changes over bump travel. There are some interes...

3 Replies and 3334 Views Roll Bar Fabrication  3334  3 Started by  Tubaguy Hello and thanks in advance for any help.  I have been reading and rereading the rule book to set up a MGB to run e modified, please excuse any misinterpretations of the rules or any differences in terms that I use.  I have done lots of fabrication but have never done a roll cage and that is one of the next projects coming up.   Reading through the rule book I plan to use 1.75 inch tubing, my biggest questions come from the bracing.  The passenger compartment is likely simil...

9 Replies and 5434 Views X-Prepared Engine/Weight Ruling  5434  9 Started by  JimmyNX Hello everyone,  I am toying around with the idea of switching from EP to XP with my Datsun 510. During this process the obvious engine choice is the Nissan SR platform. Of course the most common is the SR20.  By my understanding of the 2014 solo rulebook, the minimum weight calculation is as follows: 1. Four-stroke cycle and two-stroke cycle, naturally aspirated, internal combustion engines will be classified on the basis of actual piston displacement. All weights a...

3 Replies and 3395 Views Solo Vee competitive in C/Mod?  3395  3 Started by  Charlie Davis I'm wondering if a Solo Vee can be competitive in C/Mod.  It looks like the advantages are wheel and tire size and lower weight.  What about power  Dual carb 1600 or single carb 1915cc  If so, are there any for sale  do you have to get a Formula Vee and turn it into a Solo Vee  What about fitment for someone with broad shoulders Thanks In Advance Charlie Davis

They are double adjustable and available in a broad range of stroke lengths. I assume that they compete with QA1. http://www.vi-king.com/

9 Replies and 4483 Views SMF - spirit of the class  4483  9 Started by  autocrossaddict I know I will take a beating for this... but are 1980s Hondas with mid-2000 motor swaps still 'in the spirit of the class' for SMF There are many 'good' FWD platforms out there that have been competitive in other classes over the years, but it seems nobody is willing to push into SMF with SRT-4s, Speed 3s, Minis, etc as an 1800lbs Hondas (yeah, yeah you ballast up to 2000 now...) with a K-swap is just damn near impossible to match.   At the local level there appears to be much more divers...

11 Replies and 2200 Views What engine for a Dmod 7 clone  2200  11 Started by  mwolf I'm thinking about building a 7 clone for d mod. I'm frying to figure out what engine would be a good option to use. I'd like to find something that makes decent power without a full race build. Obviously weight is also important and the ability to mate up to a rwd transmission. What do people suggest I'm pretty open at this point.

2 Replies and 1378 Views Yet another WHAT CLASS AM I ? Thread  1378  2 Started by  EZ2Wire OK I have a strange setup.. and can't find clarity ANYWHERE where I fit..  I have a 1974 Opel Manta with a 2004 Chevy Colorado 2.8L transplanted into it.  Obviously Opel is owned by GM and GM Owns Chevy.. but thats where it stops with ANY relationship this motor has with the car. Heck the motor wasnt even designed until the late 90s early 00s' so any chance it was ever in this chassis are nil.  Is there even a class I can be in..

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I have been toying with buying a 2 pass open sports car and I have been looking at a Aerial Atom III with a blown Honda 300hp engine. I did some inquiring and it would be placed in A Mod, which I wouldn't be very competitive in. Now I am looking at a Stalker M-spec with a new LS3 eng and tranny. This is totally new to me and I don't know what cars fit into what classes and the SCCA rule books don't always help. You guys have run these cars before and i would think you already have a good ...

3 Replies and 1817 Views Electric Power Steering, What to use?  1817  3 Started by  bobby@bobbyjasan.com Looking to add power steering back to the EMod Miata, but because of motor swap and location satiations adding a stock pump isn't that easy, so I have been thinking of doing an electric power steering pump.  What do people use out there, and what works best  For reference I still have the stock Miata power steering rack in, and just looped to itself. Have seen that MR2 pumps were popular in the past, but getting rarer.  It appears that a Mazda 3 pump is widely availabl...

8 Replies and 2203 Views EM Car Legality  2203  8 Started by  BSabo Greetings, I have been reading the SCCA rulebook for the past week. And would like to find if my current car is legal for the EM class. What I have is a 1980s Buick Regal that was built in 2010 for the UMP Street Stock rules. But since the racing sanction updated the rules, my car is no longer legal to do some dirt track racing. Like I said, the car is a 80s Buick Regal. We are still using the factory OEM body, firewall, frame, suspension, and half of the floorpan. What I mean about the floorpan...
