15 Replies and 1045 Views My take on the SM/SM2 saga.....  1045  15 Started by  chrisbarnett01 This is my first post here.I think SM is a great class, and it is set up perfectly. I have a 1998 Dodge Neon. Yes, I will be competing in SM at the National's. Roughly 240-250 flyhweel hp in a 2200 lb package. Hopefully I will competitive this season, I don't know yet.I hear a lot of Mustang 4.6 owners complaining about a lack of parts to make power with, except for SC's. Do you think the guy with the Hyundai Tiburon, or the guy with the Saturn is have an easier time finding parts No, I s...

13 Replies and 936 Views Problem concerning STS/STR  936  13 Started by  Hoodoo I recently had the opportunity to purchase a nice high mileage '87 Civic SI for cheap. I was considering buying it to turn it into an STS car. Then I read the STS rules (thank god!). The problem I see with these rules is that if a person has a car older than a few years, they won't be able to buy CARB approved headers, upgraded throttle bodies, ect. So it would seem that if I wanted to race this class, I would have to buy late model. Otherwise go SP, where I would have to sink big $$$ in co...

10 Replies and 966 Views Is STR growing in your region/division? (A repost)  966  10 Started by  honda93 Happy New Year!I posted this yesterday, but it seems to have gotten deleted. Two people replied and I would appreciate it if they replied once more. Thanks...The message focuses around the STR class and if anyone out there has seen growth at the regional or even divisional level. I saw a fair turnout at Harrisburg this past season, but attendance numbers seemed small throughout the rest of the country. In time, I am hoping to see it become a Nationally recognized class in the same manner as ...

3 Replies and 706 Views The only FAIR way to run STS...  706  3 Started by  gsrroger I finally figured it out. We need to exclude every car from ST except green-colored 1996 Integra GSRs. Kumho 712's will be the spec tire, also. Of course, I don't actually beleive that. This forum hasn't had a post in days, I thought maybe I could stir things up a little!

12 Replies and 952 Views Reshuffling SM and SM2  952  12 Started by  Drew00GTsc I am confused about why the distinction of SM and possibly SM2 is the number of seats. I would say, lets reshuffle this. Make it displacement. Say an arbitrary number like 2.5L. Keep the same requirements/rules but reshuffle so like cars are running together. -Drew00GT s/c

21 Replies and 2010 Views Why is Supra Street Mod  2010  21 Started by  Joel Schotz
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
Why is it that Porsche's and other 'sports car based' autos with back seats are not allowed in street-mod but the Toyota Supra is The Supra's &91late models&93 back seat is even less useful than the Porsche and was only there for ins. purposes. The Supra also starts out in Super Stock class which is dedicated to 'true' sports cars. Don't get me wrong--I think last years winner was due to great driving. I quite honestly believe there are better cars for the class &91lighter-better handling&...

5 Replies and 680 Views Wheel Recommendations  680  5 Started by  Chiboy With this forum being so new, I cant really tell if this is the right place for this question or not. If it doesnt belong here, please let me know.Im planning to run a hybrid civic next season and I will need wheels. Im going to need at least 15 wheels because of the brake rotors, but Im considering 16s if there is enough of a performance edge to be gained. So my questions are:1) For autocrossing, will I benefit from 16s And are the penalties for heavier wheels worth the cost2) For a...

9 Replies and 938 Views Concerned over 'Street' in Street Modified...  938  9 Started by  John in Houston I was thinking the other day about the 'Street' portion of Street Modified. Being a Mustang owner, we have a series of events each year called Fun Ford Weekend (FFW) where two day events are held for drag racing. One of the classes is called 'True Street'.The goal of the class is to find the fastest 'street' mustang in the area. The event consists of a 30 mile drive and then 3 back to back 1/4 mile runs. No adjustments can be made to the car once the 30 mile drive starts other than swapping...

1 Replies and 612 Views MSD Ignition system  612  1 Started by  Racy-Stacey Hi everyone Q: I run the MSD 6A, now originaly I had no problem. But after reading the minuttes concerning the clarification of the STS rules. I'm a little concerned that they are not allowing this mod anymore. Or am I reading it right.. Also if they are stating that the MSD is only legal if it alters the timing, then could I add a timing controler and it would become legal Would they let my current system be 'grandfathered in as am exemption' Once you install an MSD box in your car its not ...

8 Replies and 971 Views Cats (no, not the furry kind)  971  8 Started by  rosss Hi all,So, the new rules (assuming they don't get changed) say that 'Engine and transmission must remain unmodified, including emissions equipment, except as noted below:' Much to many folk's chagrin, 'below' there's no mention of the cats. So, from reading the rules, what is the opinion about moving the cats a bit I'm thinking that it'd probably be OK, since most headers will probably require a slight relocation of the cat (even if it's only a quarter inch, it's still 'moved' from stock) -- b...
