1 Replies and 3593 Views Best Tire for STS Miata  3593  1 Started by  JsnMR2 I'm tired of beating on my daily driver, a 2015 Audi S3 that I am currently running in ASP because of my APR stage 2 tune. That being said, I'm buying a friends fully prepped STS Miata. I ran a 50.1 in my S3 at the last event, while the owner of this miata ran a 50.07. He let me do two fun runs in it, and I ran a 52 followed by a 50.7. I feel I had some room to grow still being that I never drove a Miata before. It currently has 200 tread wear 195/50/15 RS3's on it. Last year, he ran 140 ...

1 Replies and 2645 Views STS 90 Civic Si Radio Delete  2645  1 Started by  Cagare I have recently built a 90 Civic Si to STS class. Currently we have a few last motor items to do like a high flow cat, and a lightweight pulley. We are currently trying to do a weight reduction program and we are targeting the stereo and speakers. Can anyone comment to me on the legality of removing the stereo and speakers from the car. I know this was an option from the factory back in 90 when the car was purchased but I was not sure if we could remove it from a car that already has one. ...

2 Replies and 3376 Views '02 Impreza in STS?  3376  2 Started by  RedGT Is there a history to why the '02-'04 Impreza 2.5 (nonturbo) is not classed in ST* I would have thought it to be marginally (or maybe a lot) slower than the '98-'01 generation 2.5RS, which is classed in STC, now STS, and therefore no harm in throwing it in there. Am I overlooking some reason the '02 was expected to be too fast for the same class, or was it just overshadowed by the WRX from that generation on and no one ever asked for an ST classing

6 Replies and 4431 Views Question regarding STX WRX (2015)  4431  6 Started by  dotslashapex Hi everyone, Long time autocrosser in San Diego running a STX Prepped E36 325i Sedan. As the e36 is aging pretty rapidly, I figured, I'd pick up a class ready car from the factory, so I picked up a 2015 Subaru WRX which will EVENTUALLY be a STX backup car. Since in STX you can't raise the boost pressure (I think this is true for any ST car with a turbo), what potential tuning source could be used The ever popular one is the Cobb V3, but I don't want potential rumors filling the paddock...

10 Replies and 4136 Views Clarification on strut bar mounting rules in STX  4136  10 Started by  ChristianNJ Hi, I am looking for some clarification on the strut bar rules in street touring. There are some strut bars available for the Golf V, which would need a minor cut out on the upper firewall to be properly mounted. In the rules below it says 'This does not permit any modifica-tions to the frame or unibody beyond the allowed mounting holes.' Does 'mounting holes' just refer to holes for mounting bolts or also for holes for strut bar clearance There is pretty much no way in installing a strut bar ...

9 Replies and 4207 Views Tire size advice- STS Integra  4207  9 Started by  DeltaV I'm currently embarking on a project to build a 98 Integra RS for STS. I'm stuck between two tire sizes: 205/50/15 and 225/45/16, both on a 7.5in wheel. The way I see it: 205/50/15: Shorter gearing, lighter, come to temperature quicker, cheaper. Not as many tire choices, larger sidewall, risk of overheating with the heavier car. 225/45/16: More tire choices, more tire for the heavier car, shorter sidewall. Taller gearing, heavier, may take a few runs to come to temp, more expensive...

6 Replies and 5098 Views 2015 WRX Classing STX or STU?  5098  6 Started by  stevesnow I know that 2008-2014 WRX's are officially in STU... which puts them at a disadvantage obviously... I am wondering if the 2015 may be able to squeak in as an STX The STX class does have a 2.0L engine max rule that I think may allow the 2015 WRX sneak back into Although I have no slue what I am talking about lol. Could we get some official rulings here Or at least as many people's opinions as possible or back-up for said opinions Thanks!

13 Replies and 10747 Views How can I determine what Bilstein shock valving to use?  10747  13 Started by  SpeedingBolt     I have come to the conclusion that I want to get more durable shocks for my 96 STS miata since my old Advance Design shocks seem to need a rebuild every year.  I have decided that I want to use Bilstein's but to get FCM elites it runs about 1900$.     I'm a cheap bast*rd and decided I'd see if I might be able to go a different route by geting some Bilstein ASN shocks and the coilover componets to adapt them.  This way I can order valving that would be...

4 Replies and 3277 Views Tire advice - 255/40-17 versus 245/35-17  3277  4 Started by  ChristianNJ Hi, I am currently running Direzza Z2 255/40 on 17x9 at the front and 225/45 on 17x8 at the rear on a VW GTI MK5. I noticed that the Toyo R1R will be available in 245/35-17 assuming it will be changed to TW200. The diameter difference is more than one inch and I would see better acceleration and a lowered center of gravity. Looks like people rate the R1R lower than the RS3 or ZII SS but would the other benefits give a net advantage for the R1R

3 Replies and 2586 Views ST Tune... for Boosted Cars  2586  3 Started by  nilfinite Apologies if this has been asked before. There seem to be a ton of threads about it but funding the answer is still a pain in the pass. Can we quickly answer this question for the benefit of future people looking for the answer. There are several options to tune a car. 1. Replacement ECU 2. 'True-Tune' modifying the stock ECU settings 3. Piggyback (Modules that plug into the ECU wire harness and modify signals that go in or out of the ECU) 4. Sensor Modifiers (Tunes that tap into spe...

Let the bench racing begin!   For reference: Bolt-on LS1s seem to get around 335rwhp, 345rwtq.  1st gear on stock diameter tires is 53mph 6200.  2nd is about 80mph.   Weight is around 3100 sans driver for the lightest versions.   edit: In case you're wondering where this came from, look in the Street Touring section of the August Fastrack.

2 Replies and 3285 Views STU Wheel/Tire Combo  3285  2 Started by  crazycalm I am looking for some advice on an STU build. I understand that for a RWD car, 285 tires are the maximum width allowed. I am looking for some advice on whether I should try and go with a square 285 set up, or do a staggered set up with a smaller width up front. Clearance is not an issue so is there any reason why I shouldn't go with the widest tire available Thanks in advance!
