2 Replies and 3188 Views '02 Impreza in STS?  3188  2 Started by  RedGT Is there a history to why the '02-'04 Impreza 2.5 (nonturbo) is not classed in ST* I would have thought it to be marginally (or maybe a lot) slower than the '98-'01 generation 2.5RS, which is classed in STC, now STS, and therefore no harm in throwing it in there. Am I overlooking some reason the '02 was expected to be too fast for the same class, or was it just overshadowed by the WRX from that generation on and no one ever asked for an ST classing

There are some strut bars available for the Golf V, which would need a minor cut out on the upper firewall to be properly mounted. In the rules below it says 'This does not permit any modifica-tions to the frame or unibody beyond the allowed mounting holes.' I am wondering if the 2015 may be able to squeak in as an STX The STX class does have a 2.0L engine max rule that I think may allow the 2015 WRX sneak back into Although I have no slue what I am talking about lol. I noticed that the Toyo R1R will be available in 245/35-17 assuming it will be changed to TW200. The diameter difference is more than one inch and I would see better acceleration and a lowered center of gravity. Looks like people rate the R1R lower than the RS3 or ZII SS but would the other benefits give a net advantage for the R1R

Let the bench racing begin!   For reference: Bolt-on LS1s seem to get around 335rwhp, 345rwtq.  1st gear on stock diameter tires is 53mph 6200.  2nd is about 80mph.   Weight is around 3100 sans driver for the lightest versions.   edit: In case you're wondering where this came from, look in the Street Touring section of the August Fastrack.

I am looking for some advice on whether I should try and go with a square 285 set up, or do a staggered set up with a smaller width up front. I was asked recently about relative power, torque and weight of various STX cars. I have to admit that I don't know much about cars in the class other than the E36s. I've heard 2650 lbs. for the RX-8s, have no idea of power and torque. I've heard the FRS can get down into the mid 2500s (saw a post indicating 2584 with a 1/4 tank of gas, trunk cleaned out, light wheels and battery, seats weighed at 43 lbs each not yet replaced) and I saw a dyno curve that indicated 174 hp6500 / 146 lb-ft4600...
