(Topic has multiple pages1 2 3 ... 4 )
I was asked recently about relative power, torque and weight of various STX cars. I have to admit that I don't know much about cars in the class other than the E36s. I've heard 2650 lbs. for the RX-8s, have no idea of power and torque. I've heard the FRS can get down into the mid 2500s (saw a post indicating 2584 with a 1/4 tank of gas, trunk cleaned out, light wheels and battery, seats weighed at 43 lbs each not yet replaced) and I saw a dyno curve that indicated 174 hp6500 / 146 lb-ft4600...

3 Replies and 2873 Views Largest legal rear spoiler in SM  2873  3 Started by  toy4speed Hi All, I've been running a my old DSP legal rear spoiler on my now SM Supra for several years, and been trying to determine how large I can build the rear spoiler.  DSP has 10' in height, from bodywork limits, and I was thinking of making it higher, but there is no discussion of spoilers in the SM rules.  I will eventually go to a wing, but for now, wanted to tinker with spoiler design till time and finances allow a wing design.  Rear wings in SM allow 8 sq feet in area, tha...

11 Replies and 3983 Views New Hankook RS-3 in 195/50-15 in STC/STS  3983  11 Started by  brentglad I'm curious if anyone has done any testing of the new Hankook compared to the R1R in the new 195/50  I ran the 225 a couple years ago on 8's when I ran the Civic in STX and wasnt too keen on them as I was a single driver and it was impossible to get heat in them, but with the new 'softer' compound, and smaller size I think they may be a viable replacement for next year with the 200TW coming if Toyo doesnt re class the R1R.  Thoughts

6 Replies and 3677 Views Novice Driver looking for Clarification on Strut Bar Rules and Definitions before finishing car build  3677  6 Started by  MK1GTIdriver Hi everyone, I am a novice autocrosser preparing my 1984 VW Rabbit GTI to race in the STC class for the first time this season and I am hoping to get some clarification for the SCCA STC class rules for lower suspension braces before I chose one to mount on my car.  In talking to multiple SCCA racers I have been told “If it doesn’t clearly state that you can’t, go for it!” but I am unsure at this point if the lower suspension brace I want to use is legal and I could ...

Mods: performance software, turboback exhaust, and intake.  Tires are Kumho Ecsta ASX street tire and suspension is stock. After reading through the handbook and some online research, i...

5 Replies and 1557 Views What can I do to my car?  1557  5 Started by  Its_Masters I recently found out that I'm going to be in Street Modified class only because put in a more durable stage one clutch.  Seeing how I'm going to be in  this class, and less competitive because of it, what else can I do to my car and still keep it in this class Just wondering because my Legacy isn't going to be very competitive at all only having that clutch... I didn't think it would kick me out of a stock class for a near-stock clutch, so I wanted to ask some suggestions on mods. Tha...

8 Replies and 1853 Views What defines a fender?  1853  8 Started by  the3lracer A member of my region is asking questions about modification of his 1990 Miata for SSM. One of his questions is regarding how much he can legally modify the fenders (specifically the fronts) while still being legal. This has sparked a mild debate between the two of us in regards to what legally defines a fender. 16.1.I of the SM rules governs a majority of the bodywork (including the bodywork in question) for the SM classes, but it only states that it may be 'modified or replaced'. His pseudo-rh...

I have 18'x9' rims and was going to get Direzza ZII in a 255 series but the load rating is to low. so what do you think would be the better option  for fit and performance between the BFG Rival in 275/35 or the Direzza in 265/35 both were measured on 9.5' rims on TireRack,s spec sheet and both list 9' as smallest rim width. Our course is on asphalt.
