Looking at suspension options for my STR S2000 in the $2500 range +/-. Option 1 is KW Clubsport coils with 12k/10k springs. Option 2 is the phase 2 revalved koni yellows from truechoice with GC sleeves 700#/600# springs. The KWs are more expensive, but I don't mind spending a bit more if it's a better setup. Thoughts?

Which piece has the better support? I have considered KW V3's but I can NOT get a straight answer about anything from anybody about valving and tuning. It sounds like so much like people standing in a circle pointing to the right. PLENTY of support for the Konis.

I have the exact Koni/truechoice setup (down to the spring rates) as you are discussing... they work very well, but need a more compression damping and spring rate if you want to be nationally competitive.

I sell both KW and Koni. Two things to consider with KW. 1. Lifetime warranty. 2. Independent compression and rebound adjustments. Also the compression adjustment is very effective at low piston speed.

I'll also mention KW are OE on some pretty performance oriented and not cheap cars. Viper ACR and the newest AMG C63 Black. Also saw that Brumos was running KW on their GT3 at Daytona.

Don't the entry level AST's start around 2,500? Those should be leaps and bounds better than the other two options being discussed here.

I have a teammate who is running the external reservoir Stance DA coilovers and has been pretty pleased with them.

I would love to know if anybody at KW knows much about their product. Seriously, I was will to buy them but the folks that answer the phone at KW only want to process orders.

I have a set of the Double adjustable TC Kline Koni’s (82 series) for the S2000 for $1000 (shocks only). PM me if you are interested in details on them.

How well do these work for a proper STR setup?

I used them on a B-Stock car. I would like to say they would be great, but I really don’t know how much spring they can handle without a revalve. They are a larger diameter than the sports, and have a larger piston, so without a doubt I can say they are better than the OTS sports (80 series).

These have been rebuild by pro parts with a little more low speed rebound in the rear a few years ago. The only bad thing about them is the rears clunk, mostly when cold but still make a little noise when warm. This seems to be normal with this shock. They made the noise before and after the rebuild. Almost everybody that has them says they make noise.

I replaced them with AST’s 5200 that I got a very good deal on. So I would say they are a step above the Koni sports and a step below DA AST’s.
