1 Replies and 16074 Views Choosing a class  16074  1 Started by  z.ling111 I'm current looking and daydreaming about scca racing. I really want to drive something with downforce and paddles (i'm also a nerd so I would be looking for a car with a mychron). I've been looking at arrive and drive packages, f1000 ,f2000 and prototypes. f1000 seems to very cool as the cars use a motorcycle engine and remind me of radicals. Most of my time i've been on the websites and came to the conclusion that it's either rich people or people that are trying to climb the motorsport ladder...

2 Replies and 6842 Views Intro to Club Racing  6842  2 Started by  sjrobinson I've done autocross for a few years and want to do Track Night in America this year. But I'm interested in more. I've read what's on the SCCAs site about club racing and I'm a bit confused. At what point does it become more dedicated I look at the club trials section and it seems like it's for anyone but then I click on 'I want to Road Race' and that's when it starts to look rather extensive. From what I understand, I could do the PDX and Club Trials. I don't see any information from the lo...

1 Replies and 6467 Views New wheels/Tires Help w/ Tire Pressure  6467  1 Started by  Fiatty I own a Fiat 500 Abarth, they are front heavy cars and the stock tires are (Pirelli Pzero) 205/40/17. The door sticker recommends 38psi front and 32 psi rear. I recently started doing track days and the stock setup was completely useless. Those tires are crap and I just couldn't hold my line. I got rid of that junk and got myself some Enkei RPF1 wheels with some Hankook RS3 tires size 225/45/15 and the improvement was huge and instantly. I shaved off 10 lbs per wheel and the grip is excellent,...

1 Replies and 8011 Views Brakes failed coming down the back straight  8011  1 Started by  djhedges https://youtu.be/AeqNnZbC1Z0t=50s This happened over the memorial day weekend after 19 minutes of racing. Brake pedal felt good coming into the straight but the car didn't slow down one bit. Yanked the e-brake before going off track and eventually let go of the steering wheel to avoid breaking any fingers. Developed a sore neck that night and some bruises later in the week but X-rays look good and I'm doing fine now. The biggest lesson I learned is to kill the fuel pump on the way out....

1 Replies and 7646 Views Newbie, car advice and questions  7646  1 Started by  Curi0sity Hey all, I would like to participate in some club racing and have some questions; I recently acquired a BMW 318Ti (e36 hatchback). This car was free and didn't run. It runs now and I am fixing it up. Initially I was thinking it would be the perfect budget track car, but the more I read I am questioning the 318's usefulness for track days and club racing. I have done a bunch of reading and I understand 'Miata is always the answer', so I ask is it worth fixing up this 318 and race it, or should...

0 Replies and 1621 Views STL exhaust too loud?  1621  0 Started by  Nick Hello. I'm new to Roadracing and have been working on finishing up my car. I'm in STL. I have a Honda Civic and I've built my own exhaust. I added a resonator where the converter was. Its more of a straight through fake converter to help get rid of the Honda raspiness. Along with 2.5in pipe, I have a Magnaflow straight through muffler. My question is will that be too loud I know it is loud just running it in the garage but I have no way to measure it or anywhere to test it. I'd love to run ...
