I'm interested in shaking off some rust and doing a few suspension tweaks before Event #1. So what's the closest autocross to the St. Louis area that's taking place prior to April 1st? |

Hi Jason, unfortunately can't make this weekend. Considering Rantoul in late March and will see you at Peru in August for sure and Nationals of course. Where is Columbus,IN? I hope to do more regional level events this year in addition to local events. |

What's up, Mike? Did you decide to stick with STU or head to BSP for next year? I might be doing both depending on weather and tire status (BSP for major events though).
Columbus is about 45 miles south of Indy http://www.cscc-scca.org/ . Good group of people, but I am not a big fan of their site - others really like it. Some of it has very nice new asphalt, but other portions are rather rough unfortunately. I know the AWD guys love it.
I am going to try to make it to that Rantoul event, but will have a lot going on then (moving/closing on a new house about then). I'm gald to hear you are coming to the Peru NT (there are rumors of a possible full Evo school too...). Everyone in St. Louis area should make the trip! I am planning on Nationals again, but in BSP this year - 3rd year, 3rd class. We should be meeting several times this year. |

Columbus,IN isn't too far from here. I'll have to keep an eye on that and Rantoul as well. I'm starting out in STU and may do what you're doing and add in some BSP as well. Other than new tires that I'm mounting tomorrow,I haven't done a thing to the car for a year - I just finished the twelve months of cancer treatments ten days ago and am slowly starting to feel better. An incredibly miserable year - couldn't really even do course walks at Nats. Staggered around each course one time in the blistering heat and crawled to the car for a seat and A/C. But in the realm of malignant melanoma I consider myself one of the lucky ones which only time will tell. Look forward to seeing you this year. |

I was, but Ian Girvan just confirmed a couple days ago he'll be co-driving with me this Sunday. I enjoyed last years February event quite a bit and they kept it on the main asphalt pad. The course drove pretty well especially considering the limitations of the site. Other times I have gone they have used the narrow roads in addition to the main asphalt area. I don't mind the narrow roads or the surface changes much, and they can't change that easily anyway, but the super tight gate spacing in certain sections on the narrow roads was kind of a buzz kill. They had chicago boxes/3 cone slaloms that a corvette (or any car much bigger than a miata/mini sized) couldn't fit into length wise and they were painfully slow. The courses lacked momentum and flow and because of the tight slalom gates and cone counts were super high.
Here is a video of last years February event I found on youtube if anybody is interested in checking it out.

Thanks,Adam, the course looks better than I anticipated based on the earlier comments - with the exception of the painfully slow turnaround. Definitely gotta get to some new sites this year. |

The turn a round at last years event wasn't too bad if you took an extra wide approach angle. I kept it in 2nd gear the whole way and it took some patience and the car bogged down a bit on exit but not that bad. I've been to several events that have had U turn like that, but I can see it being tough especially for people that haven't come across them often. Sometimes the layout of the site necessitates U turns and it's unavoidable, other times they're built in for an added driving element. |

Probably not. I don't take the M3 to Columbus anymore. |

There's a hotel right by the site called The Quarter Inn. It's an old military barracks I would guess from the rooms and it's pretty nice for the price...<--:) |

Is there pre registration for the Columbus event? Or do we just sign up there? |
