I have been in touch with the SCCA National office and EVO - this event is going to be so cool. It will be the 1st ever National Tour EVO Shoot Out. (which is a bracket sort of thing like we have done in past years as a year end event).

Everyone will be at least 4 runs (maybe 6) on Sat. Then 2 more on Sunday and then those times will quilify you for the Shoot Out.

Concrete & Shoot Out & Great Course = more fun!

They will give us the times and we will score each days runs and award points that way.

This is going to be a lot of fun with some awsome grip. If you have never played on concrete, you must try it, and you too will understand how much fun it is.

So if there is only going to be two runs on Sunday, how is that going to be an event?

Sean, think of the glass as 1/2 full. We are going to get lots of runs on Sat. 2 runs Sunday then some will make the 32 who move on to the Shoot Out so it will even more for the fastest.

It is a new idea and since STL Region Solo has had so much fun with the year end bracket events and this one sounds like it is a lot like it will be fun.

As long as we cound the same amount of runs for each person per day we it cna be an event for us.

Oh yes and they have a BBQ guy with some great food who comes out and sells lunch each day.

Since we are tryng something new in these Blytheville evnets this is a just more newness and fun.

I'm aware of how the super shootout works.

Maybe turning these last two events into one is the way to go. It was a cool idea when the event was going to be run as a normal national tour stop, but now it's not. And as we all know from this year, 2 runs doesn't cut it.

I am not sure I see the difference - regular NT, 3 runs per day. Shootout - 4 Saturday, 2 Sunday. Both = 6 runs.

In my case, there is no chance in hell I would make either the regular challenge or the shootout one since my index is stupid, so the net gain is the same for me.

If they give more runs on Saturday, it is a bonus.

EDIT - Not arguing against your opinion, or arguing at all. :) Also, it is the same course both days like a Pro.

Also at the Nashville Road tour last year, last heat only got two runs due to darkness on the first day and the event results were official. This was important with contingency awards on the line.

Don't see how we're going to wring two points events out of this unless the shootout rules are going to be modified, because as it now stands, the top 32 after the initial 4 runs get a bye into the bracket elimination round. Not saying I'll be among those 32, mind you, but who is to say some STL member won't.

I have been been in contact with Mike "Junior" johnson and Howard Duncan who both are 100% behind the StL Solo Series and everyone will get 2 runs on Sunday so we can count them for points.

With the changes would it make more sense to have the 10 local events count as points only? With the changes to the event it doesn't make as much sense and a 2 run event seems odd. I saw on the scca site a gateway road course tour is planned. I knew there was talk, but didn't know if this means it's official? Would that make more sense to be the 11th and 12th STL events? They'll be local and running a standard two day format.

I didn't see anything in the STL supps, but rule 7.3 says that everyone should get 3 attempts at the course unless there's some earth ending occurrence. If you remember the whole event 5 debacle, one of the main arguments was not everyone got 3 runs on the "same" course...Sure there are 6 runs, but it's 4 and 2 and 2 isn't 3 so I think we only have one events worth of driving down there. Hairs were split earlier in the year, might as well keep it up. If Jr and Howard are so behind STL, they should let us have our 3rd run. (Not that I think they owe us anything, but in fairness and the spirit of our 12 event series.)

It is what it is and I'm looking forward to going there so I'm not going to let this spoil it for me. And I think Kyle has a good idea. It will probably have more STL entrants simply by being here.

Also, what about the idea of making it just one points event and then booking another date at Family Arena? Obviously I don't know the ins and outs of that, but I've heard that they're really flexible on scheduling. -In the middle of this thought I was reminded that you have to pay to use the lot...I'm short sighted some times.

But it is an idea. And in November I doubt they have people knocking down their doors to use the lot. Maybe a discount could be had for that?

    Sean,

Your ideas are terrible. Except for when you said my idea was good.

Just kidding. I think something could be worked out with the recent change of events.

Seems like the right call is to make this into 1 points event.
