30 Replies and 1669 Views I was just wondering?  1669  30 Started by  QWKBLKGT
(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
OK guys, you will have to forgive me for this one. I was going to be new to the SCCA events, but decided not to because of a personal conflict with some people in my area. What I am wondering is this......Some friends of mine and I used to drag race, and well soe of the people who autocross in my area looked down on us, and said it takes no talent to drive in a straight line. OK I will give you that, but I thought the whole point was to have fun, am I wrong I mean I grew up at Mid Ohio gpoing t...

11 Replies and 708 Views Solo II is the key to SCCA's future  708  11 Started by  Bill in RiverCity I've been reading the thread regarding the need to get more young people involved in SCCA. Many have hit on the point, but I thought it deserved special attention here. Solo II is the way to get young people into the sport. It costs practically nothing and takes no license or training. In Southern California I see lots of young people with their hopped up Hondas at these events. Problem is, there are too few events for the number of people who want to participate. At the events I've attend...

I know some of ya'll play racing video games, its ok to admit it here. So, who plays what and what cars or tracks do you like the bestI like Sports Car GT alot for a racing game. The cars are very tunable and lots of interesting ones, I also like the track selection.Gran Turismo 2 is still a fave though. Who can't like a game with THAT many cars and tracks to choose from.------------------&91b&93 Quik's Silver &91/b&931998 Camaro Z28 1LE A4&91url='http://http:www.geocities.com/crazyquik...

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
I'm interested in your comments on the following proposal. Feel free to email me at bigmac1enter.net as well as commenting here.I am essentially suggesting that the SCCA sponsor a car in the SpeedvisionWorld Challenge series and that it should be funded primarily throughgrassroots donations from SCCA members who choose to participate. Donationsof any size would be acceptable, but $10, $20 or even larger would be evenbetter. If the response (No they didn't send money) and enthusiasm that Ihave ...

5 Replies and 674 Views Solo II at the Q  674  5 Started by  Trys_Hard I'm a new Solo II fanatic and since the next practice I could go to is in San Diego at Qualcomm I was wondering what to expect there In as far as the track layout, any differences I should know about. I heard that they tend to be longer and faster. I have only autocrossed at Hollywood Park. Like I said I'm now an official Autox fanatic, I mean who else would want a scouting report for a PRACTICE! ------------------&91list&93*Art Rinner*95 Eagle Talon ESI*823 ES (Team No $)&91/list&93

8 Replies and 757 Views CLASS CONSOLIDATION  757  8 Started by  FASTNBLU BOY RACER-JOHN DID YOU OPEN A CAN OF WORMS OR WHAT, This is a very sensitve topic of which will never be resolved. I dont race IT so I wont even try to fix the 'no national/too many classes/too many evolvments/ problems. After spending a year building a car I would'nt like it if you eliminated my class. I read somewhere that some spec-7 class was accepting no new cars, I would have to read that as a way to phase out a class. I would think they would wait till the car count got to a magic low num...

18 Replies and 1050 Views WeekdayFunPoll: the $60k Challenge  1050  18 Started by  JimR Let's say that you get handed $60,000 to spend on any combination of four-wheeled vehicles of your choice, new or used. We're not counting down to the penny here - how would you split your cashPersonally, I don't know. I could get a slick GT or sedan racer and a SVT Lightning to pull it with, or I could take the easy way out and get a new M3 and spend the change on a clean old Sentra SE-R.I would be interested in hearing what a bunch of amateur racers would do with $60k. Street cars, race machi...

If your going to the first race look for a Maroon 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier Wagon RS, that would be me, unless I get a MK1 Toyota MR2 by then, but I highly doubt that. I'...
