0 Replies and 627 Views Midwest Divisional 1 Heartland Park Topeka  627  0 Started by  ron Just one week left to get entered for the first Midwest Divisional of the year. Come to Heartland Park for two days full of seat time at one of the best autocross venues in the country.  This is the dedicated Solo pad at Heartland Park that is 25 acres of asphalt and the two grids and the course are all that is on that pad. Courses generally are in the mid 60 second range and we plan to give 5 runs per person and if there is time at the end of the day we tend to do fun runs. Last year we&nb...

0 Replies and 501 Views HELP...roll cage certificate needed!  501  0 Started by  smudge2031 Hi, I bought and imported an old 280z SCCA race car. I have nearly rebuilt it but now the MSA UK are saying they wont allow the type of rollcage that is in it. It has the Halo type and they dont have this design in the rule book over here. They said they would except it if I could get a FIA ASN certificate for that design. Can anyone help me and point me in the right direction to try and get one. Really dont want to cut the cage up after putting all the work in....any help would be appreciated. ...

0 Replies and 491 Views Snell 2015 Helmet Question  491  0 Started by  toy4speed   Hi, looking for a new helmet, a snell 2015 model.  Seems like the exterior size of the 2015 cert helmets are larger than my old 2005 helmet.  Is this due to increased safety requirements  Are there some brands of open face helmets anyone recommends that are more compact, yet still 2015 certified  I prefer open face, but might consider closed if a comfortable fit with glasses.  Thanks!

4 Replies and 7675 Views Old Race Tracks near St. Louis  7675  4 Started by  Mtowner405 When I was a kid in the early '70s, my dad would take us to a sports car track in the St. Louis area.  My parents were divorced and we didn't live here, so I didn't spend much time in St. Louis.   I remember that drives would drive their cars to the events.  They just needed three point harnesses, a roll cage and a fire extinguisher.  Many would just slap on a magnetic number. I remember watching Formula V there. Does anyone know where a track like that might have been in ...

5 Replies and 8706 Views Budget for f-street  8706  5 Started by  Manatee I run in f-street 2014 Mustang 3.7L auto. I plan on getting new tire(Bridgestone) and wheels for this year. Plus I was thinking of adding front sway bar or shocks/struts. Any opinions on which will be more beneficial per cost. I'm also thing of running in STP class which would allow wider wheels and tires. That would put me in a class where more modifications can be made. I plan on only doing tires, shocks/struts and sway bar as money will allow. Would the wider tires be worth moving to a di...

I'm of the mind set that the lighter the better. IE : a small block  ( 289-351w )  in say a 65 Mustang  coupe.  My friend would like to go say a big block ( 428-460 ) in a bigger / heavier Mustang ( 71-73 ).  If your of the mind set that 'torque matters most' , then a big block delivers more of that and soon...

0 Replies and 1256 Views Race America Timing systems FOR SALE  1256  0 Started by  GoGators   We are selling what remains of two full Race America (RA) timing systems. We switched to Farmtek and have no need for the equipment.   Using parts of the two full sets, one set of equipment is still functional. When new the equipment cost ~$7k. We are asking $1000 OBO (plus shipping).   The newer AC4 timing console appears to be throwing error codes (6 & 8) and the T-Link wireless transmitter batteries do not hold a charge.  Correct those issues and the...

I have a 2005 Ford Mustang GT w/a 5 speed manual transmission with really low miles and is in great condition. It has the basic upgrades such as cat back exhaust, off road x-pipe, cold air intake, aftermarket ECU program. As it sits now what class would my car qualify for Also it has basic 255 35R20 ...

2 Replies and 1056 Views Hello  1056  2 Started by  falkin42 Hello. I don't normally join or post on forums but this seemed like the place I should be a member of. I don't have any racing experience or a car I'm really ready to dedicate just yet but once I pass the Bar exam and I'm able to start making real people money I plan to get a second car and begin a life of tires and oil. I suppose my first question for y'all is what car I should be looking at getting. I've had almost exclusively front drive cars in my daily driving, so I'd like to learn on a...

3 Replies and 1888 Views How do I turn an SCCA racecar into a road legal vehicle?  1888  3 Started by  Fred_1320Video Hey guys! I'm new here, and I know you guys usually do the exact opposite of what I'm trying to do, but I figured someone on here might be able to point me in the right direction.... I have an opportunity to buy a very clean 1987 Volkswagen. Its been a track car all of it's life and the current owner has described it as 'Production Racecar' and indicated that it does not have a title (and I would assume no VIN). If I bought it, I would receive the car with a bill of sale and that's it. As much ...
