4 Replies and 4062 Views Engine Swap Reclassification  4062  4 Started by  TheOneTrueScotsman I have a 1966 Mini Cooper that used to run on a 1275cc A series motor, sadly the previous owner blew the motor and now I am trying to re-build it. I am considering swapping to a Honda B16A VTEC Engine, what class of racing would this car be put in Also if anyone knows the minimum weight requirements for this engine in whichever class it ends up being that would be great!

1 Replies and 2181 Views Circuit of The Americas (COTA) February 26-28, 2016  2181  1 Started by  Feffman Good Morning: I hope this finds each of you in good spirits as we trek through Fall toward Winter.  I for one think a more southern location is in the cards.  HMMM, perhaps Austin, Texas!   For the fourth year in a row, it’s time to think about three days of driving on America’s only purpose built F1 track, Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. MVP Track Time has scheduled our 4th annual three-day COTA track event for February 26 – 28, 2016. ...

2 Replies and 3894 Views New guy, any advice on F600?  3894  2 Started by  zookie Just saying hi.  Hope to start meeting some people at events, etc.  Not the best time of year to get started since things are winding down but still looking to learn as much as possible over the winter. I have been to a number of local (), and did a DE weekend late last year at Mid Ohio. I've since sold my car and am looking for what will be next.  Was looking at various cars from Spec Miatas to very used Cayman S.  But I just recently found F600.  Have to tow the car ...

11 Replies and 4947 Views Do you think it's fair to BRZ drivers that FR-S guys can use TRD parts and they can't?  4947  11 Started by  Conekilla Hope I'm not opening a can of worm with this topic (and this is coming from a non brz/frs owner)  but how do you BRZ guys feel about FR-S guys able to use all the TRD goodies (TRD springs, TRD F and R sways, TRD Shocks etc) and BRZ guys can't In Cstreet at nat, from 1st-28th, there were 13 FR-S (including the class winning champion). BRZ didn't even start till 29th position! Do you think SCCA will bump FR-S with TRD goodies to BStreet Than again, how easy will it be to regulate FR-S i...

0 Replies and 1104 Views Rear sway bar improvement  1104  0 Started by  BillyBoB4869 Hi,  I currently run ESP in a 2011 Mustang GT. My current suspension mods include 1.5inch lowering springs and shocks to accommodate the lower ride height and a Whiteline front sway bar. I run 295 30 18 BFG R1-S on all four wheels.  I am considering if a newer/stiffer whiteline rear bar would help or hurt my setup. I get conflicting stories when I ask others at autocross events. The courses I generally run are short and tight. Any insight is much appreciated.

5 Replies and 2888 Views Wheel & Tire Selection  2888  5 Started by  onray.donpaul Hi, I need help on deciding my wheel & tire size for autocross. I am currently looking at getting Enkei RPF1s 35 offset, 5x100PCD & 18 inch in diameter but I am undecided on how wide I should go. I was suggested 8 wide to keep the weight down but this gives a smaller contact patch than the 9 or 9.5 inch wide that others have been suggesting but this I fear will increase the weight over stock. The current specs on my car are below: Toyota GT86 K&N panel filter Cusco strut bar wit...

1 Replies and 1914 Views Braking calculations  1914  1 Started by  memphisraines I've put everything from the stop tech braking white papers http://www.stoptech.com/docs/media-center-documents/the-physics-of-braking-systems into an excel sheet to help calculate what brakes I should be using for my car. Some of the values don't seem to be coming out right though as I'm getting negative values for temperature during single stop braking event.  As you can see with the attached image I threw in some numbers to check the validity of my equations. I used a car that weighed 2...

0 Replies and 1014 Views Brakes on a C Tech Pit Cart  1014  0 Started by  dogedoc Ever since I saw a C Tech pit cart, I always promised myself that I would purchase one for myself.  I thought the quality and features far surpassed anything I ever saw. Granted, it costs a patrimony because I am customizing it to fit my needs as I do not have a crew to take care of me (vintage racing) . Therefore this question is not about my wisdom (or lack thereof) of actually buying one but rather opinions on the necessity of having their brakes on a 60' Worktop cart. I do not mind spen...

0 Replies and 922 Views Race Car Identification  922  0 Started by  TheOneTrueScotsman I am rebuilding an old SCCA Mini Cooper race car and I'm trying to find out more about its history and previous owner. I have tried talking to the CASC as the car used to have a registration with them but they never got back to me, the number on the CASC  registration is 2 282. I am including pictures of anything that might help to identify the car. Any help would be appreciated!
