1 Replies and 1661 Views Braking calculations  1661  1 Started by  memphisraines I've put everything from the stop tech braking white papers http://www.stoptech.com/docs/media-center-documents/the-physics-of-braking-systems into an excel sheet to help calculate what brakes I should be using for my car. Some of the values don't seem to be coming out right though as I'm getting negative values for temperature during single stop braking event.  As you can see with the attached image I threw in some numbers to check the validity of my equations. I used a car that weighed 2...

0 Replies and 853 Views Brakes on a C Tech Pit Cart  853  0 Started by  dogedoc Ever since I saw a C Tech pit cart, I always promised myself that I would purchase one for myself.  I thought the quality and features far surpassed anything I ever saw. Granted, it costs a patrimony because I am customizing it to fit my needs as I do not have a crew to take care of me (vintage racing) . Therefore this question is not about my wisdom (or lack thereof) of actually buying one but rather opinions on the necessity of having their brakes on a 60' Worktop cart. I do not mind spen...

0 Replies and 771 Views Race Car Identification  771  0 Started by  TheOneTrueScotsman I am rebuilding an old SCCA Mini Cooper race car and I'm trying to find out more about its history and previous owner. I have tried talking to the CASC as the car used to have a registration with them but they never got back to me, the number on the CASC  registration is 2 282. I am including pictures of anything that might help to identify the car. Any help would be appreciated!

4 Replies and 3218 Views New to Autocross, what car?  3218  4 Started by  MuuMuu101 Hey there. So, I'm a 23 year old who's straight out of college and want to get into Autocrossing. I live in SoCal and went to the Hotchkis autocross back in June at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. It was a great event and I had some fun out there. I'm currently driving a stock 2011 Scion tC as my daily driver, but frankly it's not very fun on the street or during Autocross. I had traction control issues (there's no way to turn it off completely without pulling a fuse) and obviously it's not reall...

2 Replies and 2078 Views Starting Line class at Wilmington  2078  2 Started by  icantdrive55 Sorry for the late question, but wondered if there were still openings available for the April 18 class.  As I read the rules, there are no special requirements to run a Vette convertible at the class, but need to confirm this.  Thx!

In the midwest it's facilities like these that bring the small town car people together.

5 Replies and 2894 Views tire pressure  2894  5 Started by  Manatee Starting second year in autocross running in the FS with stock tires. Towards the end of the season last year I was trying to adjust pressure. I've chalked the tires and what looks good was 39/f and 36/r. This off season i've been looking around on and some say more pressure in the rear instead of the front.(40/f-45/r) Any others RWD cars owners have suggestions

0 Replies and 955 Views SCCA Solo Racers on BBC's Mud, Sweat and Gears  955  0 Started by  beansandrice SCCA solo racers, Rob Krider and Keith Kramer, somehow convinced the producers of the new show Mud Sweat and Gears that they should be in the first episode. With the premise of the show being get a crappy car, build it in 24 hours, and then race it in three challenges/stunts, a couple of solo racers fit the bill. The show premieres Monday January 26, 2015, on BBC America at 7:00 p.m. right after Top Gear. Media Links: Z06life.com https://z06life.wordpress.com/2015/01/21/z06life-drivers-in...

3 Replies and 2601 Views SCCA Demographic Survey is not anonymous, BTW.  2601  3 Started by  Alex Tziortzis Keep the following in mind before doing the SCCA demographic survey you may have received in your email.   1) Before you click on that link to do the SCCA survey you got in your email, know that this year, you are required to answer all questions. Not all people want to answer some of the personal ones (e.g. income, age, etc).  2)Furthermore, the survey email gives you a 'unique link'. In surveymonkey (the vendor they are using), by using the unique link, they actually collect the s...
