7 Replies and 2234 Views Boring CIVIC Beginner  2234  7 Started by  wyattdelsol Hello out there! I've dreamed of making Autocross my hobby for a while now. My wife gave me the Starting Line package as a Christmas gift and I'm excited to get out there. Last year I traded in my '03 Audi A4 S-line for a run-of-the mill 2009 Honda Civic LX (I mean, this thing even has hub caps for God's sake). I wanted to avoid the staggering repair costs I was incurring with my Audi. But, what I did was completely sabotage my future in Autocross - at least I felt.  After reading some arti...

0 Replies and 2201 Views Authentic Miami Vice Ferrari Daytona replica found  2201  0 Started by  andrewnicholscnbc There's a cool story behind the 1976 Ferrari Daytona used in Miami Vice... Apparently, they couldn't use a real Ferrari at first so they remodeled a Corvette to be a Daytona replica. Halfway through the show, Ferrari gave them a real Testarossa to use, so they got rid of the replica - which was sold off and quickly disappeared. Now the folks on the TV show The Car Chasers think they have that original Daytona replica used on the show. In the episode, they try to authenticate the car...and see wh...

I'm moving from Branson, MO to Stillwater, OK and will be very near Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. I'm looking for advice on the cars setup. I will be racing an unconventional car and am looking forward to the challenge to make it handle like its on rails. So here's my baby, Frost Bite. A 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC.

4 Replies and 1445 Views Track Side Equipment Transportation  1445  4 Started by  avila Hey all!  Im an Industrial Design student and I’m working on a project designing bags/backpack/carrying equipment. Im messing around with the idea of designing a bag that would be used to carry a simple mechanics tool set, torque wrench, pliers, and compartments for hardware and fittings and all sorts of things you would need at an event to work on your track vehicle. The goal of it would be to increase the convenience and comfort of carrying your stuff with you on site w...

The purpose is to downsize the OEM offerings and I need to know what car(s) to seek out to fit my plans. I'm hoping to find a quicker method than going over all vehicle  specifications for the last 25 years. In case someone has info not provided to the general public; the car is a 2007 Pontiac Vibe with ...

1 Replies and 1027 Views national autocross schedule  1027  1 Started by  impalanut Like most people I need advance notice to get time off to go to national events. Why is the roadracing schedule always out much sooner than the autocross schedule Since many work calendars are done by the first of the year, we would need at least a month advance schedule notice to be able to ask for the time off.

(I have smelled coolant but only slightly) The post said that the radiators have a leaking problem.Has anyone else experienced the engine fan issue If so how did you address the problem I don't have extra cash to have someone just throw parts at it until they figure it out.    Thanks in advance jeepguy66

3 Replies and 1239 Views Front vs. Rear Tires Quest-Grandson's  1239  3 Started by  Robert11 Hello, My Grandson asked me the following question, and as I am not, frankly, into auto technology or racing (but enjoy watching), I thought I would take the liberty of asking here.    'Why, so often, on many different types of race cars, are the rear wheels so much bigger '  Didn't know what the right answer is.   Is it simply that the front wheels have to be smaller so they can turn easier, or a better engine/torque match with bigger wheels, or bigger wheels have mor...

0 Replies and 842 Views Formula 1 in the deadly years  842  0 Started by  melville Hi everyone! My name is Richard Melville. I am a former racing driver. I drove GT cars in Europe in early sixties, Formula Supervees and Atlantic in the States and Canada, and finally in New Zealand in the mid-seventies.   I have often tried to find a good novel about motor-racing from the driver's point of view, without much luck, so I decided to write one. The novel is about Formula 1 motor-racing driver in the deadly years of the 1970s. I was driving Supervees and Formula Atlantic at t...
