11 Replies and 2001 Views new guy in Oklahoma  2001  11 Started by  speedboat Hey all. I'm new here and to road course racing. I'm moving from Branson, MO to Stillwater, OK and will be very near Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. I'm looking for advice on the cars setup. I will be racing an unconventional car and am looking forward to the challenge to make it handle like its on rails. So here's my baby, Frost Bite. A 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC.

4 Replies and 1790 Views Track Side Equipment Transportation  1790  4 Started by  franksterz Hey all!  Im an Industrial Design student and I’m working on a project designing bags/backpack/carrying equipment. Im messing around with the idea of designing a bag that would be used to carry a simple mechanics tool set, torque wrench, pliers, and compartments for hardware and fittings and all sorts of things you would need at an event to work on your track vehicle. The goal of it would be to increase the convenience and comfort of carrying your stuff with you on site w...

0 Replies and 846 Views Searching for Wheels  846  0 Started by  mazdamike Looking for help,,,, Does anyone have a resource, website, search engine, etc. to discover cars that have a specific wheel size I am not looking for new wheels but rather junkyard steels. The purpose is to downsize the OEM offerings and I need to know what car(s) to seek out to fit my plans. I'm hoping to find a quicker method than going over all vehicle  specifications for the last 25 years. In case someone has info not provided to the general public; the car is a 2007 Pontiac Vibe with ...

1 Replies and 1208 Views national autocross schedule  1208  1 Started by  impalanut Like most people I need advance notice to get time off to go to national events. Why is the roadracing schedule always out much sooner than the autocross schedule Since many work calendars are done by the first of the year, we would need at least a month advance schedule notice to be able to ask for the time off.

I saw another post on this forum that these trucks are prone to cooling problems. (I have smelled coolant but only slightly) The post said that the radiators have a leaking problem.Has anyone else experienced the engine fan issue If so how did you address the problem I don't have extra cash to have someone just throw parts at it until they figure it out.    Thanks in advance jeepguy66

I'm looking at a car in the Baltimore area from a guy that's overly cautious. Having someone face to face interacting with him would make this deal happen.  If there's anyone in that area that could help me out, I'd love to talk with you about it. At my end I'm working thru Paul Kramer at www.Autokennel.com    Many thanks,   Tom ttanquarygmail.com

3 Replies and 1491 Views Front vs. Rear Tires Quest-Grandson's  1491  3 Started by  Bob Hello, My Grandson asked me the following question, and as I am not, frankly, into auto technology or racing (but enjoy watching), I thought I would take the liberty of asking here.    'Why, so often, on many different types of race cars, are the rear wheels so much bigger '  Didn't know what the right answer is.   Is it simply that the front wheels have to be smaller so they can turn easier, or a better engine/torque match with bigger wheels, or bigger wheels have mor...

0 Replies and 1023 Views Formula 1 in the deadly years  1023  0 Started by  melville Hi everyone! My name is Richard Melville. I am a former racing driver. I drove GT cars in Europe in early sixties, Formula Supervees and Atlantic in the States and Canada, and finally in New Zealand in the mid-seventies.   I have often tried to find a good novel about motor-racing from the driver's point of view, without much luck, so I decided to write one. The novel is about Formula 1 motor-racing driver in the deadly years of the 1970s. I was driving Supervees and Formula Atlantic at t...

My interest are on the mechanical side of racing and leaning more towards the vintage/foreign stock. My question is of course where to begin How and where would I be able to start, obviousl...
