0 Replies and 854 Views Formula 1 in the deadly years  854  0 Started by  melville Hi everyone! My name is Richard Melville. I am a former racing driver. I drove GT cars in Europe in early sixties, Formula Supervees and Atlantic in the States and Canada, and finally in New Zealand in the mid-seventies.   I have often tried to find a good novel about motor-racing from the driver's point of view, without much luck, so I decided to write one. The novel is about Formula 1 motor-racing driver in the deadly years of the 1970s. I was driving Supervees and Formula Atlantic at t...

1 Replies and 1048 Views Total Noob  1048  1 Started by  aj.kenna Hey guys,  I'm totally new to this whole scene. I'm 26, in the USAF and now that my career is starting to slow down a bit I decided I wanted to take the plunge into something I've wanted to do forever. I'm soon to be the owner of an BMW E46 330ci ZHP, I plan on taking the winter to do whatever the vehicle needs to get to factory conditions, plus some additional work. Intake, headers, exhaust, wheels, tires, brakes, maybe suspension, and whatever else I might want to do. I'm trying to disce...

1 Replies and 886 Views The other side of the wheel  886  1 Started by  DSccaC Hello everyone, I've been spending most of my life working on turf/golf equipment and though it has been OK (never fun) I have begun to look elsewhere to finish off my working years. Way back when I had a sweet little MG BGT (70), Pontiac GTO (also 70), Studebaker Lark (64) and a number of other fun cars. My interest are on the mechanical side of racing and leaning more towards the vintage/foreign stock. My question is of course where to begin How and where would I be able to start, obviousl...

3 Replies and 1156 Views New guy here - are these Hoosiers still good?  1156  3 Started by  dmontayre@gmail.com Hey everyone, I'm looking to finally track my Cayman and my buddy gave me a bunch of used Hoosier A6 and R6 pairs. They all show 2 lines on the tread and the wear holes still have some depth to them but they look to have melted/bubbled from heat on the top of the sidewall and on the tread. There's no dry rot on the sidewalls. Here are some example pics:

3 Replies and 1182 Views Loud Drivers  1182  3 Started by  FritzSpeed   I was just reading the June Fastrack. I'm not an English major, but to me this reads like the drivers volume level is factored in when taking sound level readings: “If a driver in a vehicle exceeds 100 dBA, the driver will be allowed an attempt to reduce the sound level of the vehicle before his/her next scheduled run that day'  The current wording of Appendix 1 seemed OK to me in this regard.
