Second year in autocross and looking to get new summer performance tires and wheels. I would be replacing p235/50 18 pirelli tires all season tires. Being a heavier car I was wondering if a tire manufacturer and a tires size be better for running autocross. Would staggering the front and back help? It's on a daily driver so I would be putting them on in April and replacing the with all seasons in October.

Are you staying stock width wheels?

For autocross performance, the RE71R is probably the droid you are looking for. How wide depends on how wide of wheels you run. I use 275-35-19 on our V8 Brembo car and they work fine. Don't worry about stagger.

There are no extreme performance tires in the OE size or 245/50/18.

    or 255/45/18

However, in 245/45/18, which will fit your stock rims, the Bridgestone RE-71R is available.

These tires have 2.2% smaller diameter than your stock tires, so they will make your gearing a little bit better (I doubt you're coming anywhere close to running out of second gear with that car), but they will make your speedometer read 2.2% faster than you are actually travelling, so be aware of that.
