My first event with the MIssissippi Region was in 2004 at CAFB. I was the second person to arrive at the site. Ricky Ricks was the first. He was there early, setting up the course. In those days, he and Cheryl were the ones without whom events wouldn't have happened [okay, Skip probably could have made it work]. I got to know him well over the next several years. Ricky was a major asset to the region.

You know that existential question that gets asked, "If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?" The autocross version of that is, "If you could work a corner station with anyone..." and my answer is Ricky Ricks. If you didn't get to experience that at least once in your life, you truly missed out. I'm surprised that we actually kept the course together because I never stopped laughing. He made events fun, plain and simple.

    We'll miss you, big guy.
