I am trying to figure out what the wording means for engine covers in EM. Can I remove it completely if I need the room for intercooler sitting on top of the engine? This would be on an MR2, rear engine cover. Trunk lid is still in place, engine cover is the only thing in question. I do have the side engine cover pieces installed...

"Doors, hoods, trunk lids, sunroofs, hatchbacks, etc. need not function as originally designed."

"Hoods may be altered to allow for induction system changes without restriction. Such alterations shall serve no other purpose."

Without seeing pictures and re-reading the book, I can't say 100% yes, but I will say 99.9% yes. :)

There was also a recent Tech Bulliten about general body modifications being legal as long as they don't confuse the identity of the car.

IMO, becuase your particular engine cover has no bearing on the identity of the car, I think you can alter it by removing it.

Are you going to come to EM and beat up on Andy and I this weekend?

I was thinking about it, thought you guys might need a couple of extra drivers in your class. We're still not completely SSM legal so instead of adding things I thought we'd remove a few and go play in the higher classes. If you guys will have us we'll go to EM or we can always go to XP. We're not going to be fast enough for your beast I am sure. ;) Thanks for the reply, I'll take a closer look at the wording again, we'll bring the stock cover along just in case though.

You are definitely welcome in EM, Andy and I hate running alone.

I agree with Dave about welcoming the company. Hope to see you in Nashville this weekend.

Thank you guys. We already stripped some parts off the car so it's too late for anything else. See you in Nashville!

PS: Too bad we'll be running in the freezing first heat. Hopefully we'll still have fun.
