I have a 1983 Ralt RT-5 and a big box of shocks and bump rubbers. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can offer advice for me.

Question #1 - Can anyone tell me what (if anything) the numbers on my shocks mean? I am pretty sure they are Bilstein shocks, but none of them say Bilstein on
them. Here is a typical number stamped on the shock body:

    27528139162 228 102

I think I've determined that "228 102" means they go on the front of my car. I have several others marked "280 72" which seem meant for the rears. I am wondering
if the first, longer number has anything to do with the compression and rebound rates.

Question #2 - I have some new, full size bump rubbers and some shortened ones. What would be a good bump rubber to start with?

Thanks very much for any advice.
