I guess there is a new regional-only class as of 2001 called Formula Super.

    Two questions:

    1. Does anyone know why the class was created? I don't remember seeing or hearing anything about it in Fasttrack or anywhere else. I have some guesses about why it was created, but ...

    2. Has anyone heard of anyone that competed in the class in 2001? If yes, what kind of cars?

    TIA.

I think that it was created to be the formula verison of super production and no I have not seen anyone running in the class.

Formula S was created for motorcycle engine powered formula cars. Danny Collins in Colorado has built one of these, and Van Dieman is building a school car that will also be FS.

It was in FastTrack late last year or early this year.

    David,

It may have been created for motocycle powered cars but, the rules are pretty open to run what you brung. I know a Reynard F2000 with a turbocharged rotary that would fit nicely in Formula S.

I also think it will encompass the new Zetec powered ff2000 cars.
