Does anyone know the deal with this school?
http://www.detroit-scca.org/race/01events/race01e1.htm
Is it fendor to fendor?

I'd like to go but I don't want to bang fendors with my street car.

Check the entry form. If it has an SCCA sanction number (and it probably does/will) it will be wheel to wheel. There's really no reason to use a race track for Solo schools. It's expensive and unless restricted with an artifical course superimposed on the track layout, it won't be teaching you Solo things.

Brian, I took a look at the SCCA CenDiv Road Racing schedule and the simple answer is yes this is a fender to fender school. It is a double school meaning that a person could receive a Novice license over the weekend.

Peter, have you ever thought about being a little more straight forward with your responses to peoples questions. People do not ask dumb questions and I would like to think that if "some of you" long standing SCCA members were responsive with detailed answers maybe more people would be inclined to want to join the club. The word secret would go away.

Remember Peter we Poooooo folks do not need a sponsor anymore, it's the 21 first century.

Brian & others, sorry about the miss info, thought it had a D (double school) like the Double school at Blachhawk Farms posted below it on the schedule.

Education comes in many forms, Dave. It was my intention to contribute information about the SCCA, like the fact that wheel to wheel event entry forms carry a sanction number, as a way of furthering the knowledge of the person asking the question. It was also my intent to further that knowledge by indicating that solo II and racing aren't usually conducted on the same piece of asphalt, and why. It seems to me that's dispelling ignorance in a constructive way, and isn't that what you're talking about?

Actually they so run solo events.

Every 4th of July Corvettes of Michigan rents the track out and put in a cone chycane(sp) so we can do an autcross event.

Also I get out on "track days"
Marsh we might have meet at one of the Ontario club days there, had a blast 60 laps!!

BTW How much for the car rental?

Brian,
I think you're looking for what is called a Solo I event? I'm not much of an AutoXer so I could be wrong, but if you look at the Solo schedule (there should be one around here someplace) for Solo I events you might find one near you. I dono.

I kinda hate to say this on an SCCA site, but have you looked into the MidWest Council's schedule? I've done Solo I type events at Blackhawk with them - it's a great way to enjoy your street car!

I'll look into it.

I've already asked the SCCA about Solot I up here, but they don't do it. Therefore they couldn't be offened too much SCCAForums Image

Don't suppose they have a WebSite?

midwest council does run solo events at blackhawk which are alot of fun...you do need a roll bar however...if you want some track time gingerman has test days but they tend to be a little hairy and attract anyone with a helmet....great experience for defensive racing

I've got a harness bar and the open road races let C4 Corvettes run in the 165mph class, there's a factory hoop on our cars. Would that classify?

Been to Gingerman couldn't have said it better myself SCCAForums Image LMAO!

Brian,

Ontario Solo1 can be done with your street car and an M rated helmet, but the closest track to you is MOSPORT, a good 4 hour drive or more.
