The hoiday season is over and its time to blow out those winter cobwebs.
The next (first) Winter Series event is this coming Sunday at Bandimere
Speedway. Gates will open 7-ish and we will close registration and tech at
A rookie walk-through of the course will begin at 9:15 with the driver's
meeting at 9:30-35 and the first car off by 10:00 - 10:15.
To ensure we get started on time, be there by 8:30 or so to give yourself
time to walk the course - but we will accept you as late as 9:30.
Gate opens: 7:00
Rookie walk 9:15
Driver's Meeting 9:30 - 35
Launch first car 10:00
Entry Fee $20 for SCCA members, $25 everyone else
As usual, you need a Snell 90 (or later) helmet. Loaners will be available
but we are in short supply, so if you have a brain bucket--bring it. Note
that this year the minimum standard is Snell 90, not 85.
The entrance to Bandimere is located about 100 yards west of of C470 on
Morrison Road. Contrary to what I wrote in Cone Clips, there is now a
Conoco Breakplace at the Morrison Rd./C470 interchange. So there is food
(of sorts), beverages, and fuel within a few hundred yards of the event.
At this point it looks like the balmy 50 degree days will be gone by the
weekend, so I'll offer my usual winter warning: If you can get out of your
driveway, just show up. DO NOT CALL ME SUNDAY MORNING TO SEE IF THE EVENT
IS ON!! Feel free to contact me anytime up until about 10pm Saturday,
Remember, no event is worth having an accident. If the roads are lousy,
stay home and drive another day. (This didn't work so well for the banquet
last November, did it?)
Dress for cold and windy and hope for sunny and calm.
Se ya'll on Sunday.
