For those who haven't noticed it on the schedule, the Utah Region SCCA will host a Rocky Mountain Divisional Solo II on the weekend of June 12-13th at the Wendover Airport.
Wendover, for those who've not competed there, is damn cool. The surface is very similar to that found at Forbes Field, but actually more grippy. Yes, that means a little bit of tire wear, but this early in the season, it's a great prep for the National Championships on a surface much like what you'll find in September.
In case you're not familiar with Divisionals, it's basically one step below a National Tour event. The same format as the Solo II National Championships in Topeka is followed, with 3 runs Saturday and 3 runs
Sunday...the best combined time for the two days takes the win!
Generally, two different courses are used, but that may be as simple as running Saturday's course backwards on Sunday.
Some (not all) manufacturers participate in contingency awards for Divisional events; check your sponsors and car/tire/shock/parts manufacturers for details.
If you're interested in attending, pay attention to the Utah Region SCCA Homepage, as details will be posted there as soon as they are available. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with me. Thanks for reading!
