A question about renewing my SSS license. I applied for the license after the season was over, not knowing that they renew with membership. I only applied for the SSS license in January of this year, and my membership expires in May. We have only run one event since I got the license. On the renewal, it wants me to work my two events to keep the license, but that is impossible given our event schedule and when I actually applied for the license.

What do I do about my renewal? Should I just write down the two events that I used to get my license to begin with, since they were within the last 12 months?

My understanding is that the events that you worked to obtain the license were only valid for the purpose of obtaining the license. So, you cannot rely upon those events.

You need to work at least two events per year after you became licensed. Your license should remain valid for at least a year after you became licensed and you mention that you only applied for the license in January. So, you haven't even been licensed for one year yet. Your license will not expire in May (providing you renew your membership).

I would just hold onto the SSS license renewal form until after you have worked two event this year and then mail it in. It will then remain valid for the next year.

Well, that's what I ended up doing. Since our season really doesn't start until April around here, it was kind of difficult to get two events in, but I managed to do it (ended up volunteering as SSS for a nearby region for one of the events).
