My father and I are new to club racing. We have been racing solo for about 2 years and are ready to try club. We were looking to race a 98 or newer firebird or camaro in T2 because that seemed to be the cheapest and easiest way to be able to race a relatively fast car. Recently, we have come across a 1986 porsche 944 for sale that is reasonably priced and has been competitive in ITS.
Along with the obvious advantage of being able to buy the car and race without any work to build it, we were thinking we might be able to both race on the same weekend. We had originally planned to each race every other time we went. This turns out to be only 3 races for each of us per summer based on how much time we have to dedicate to it. Is it possible to race the porsche in ITS then again with a different driver and different number in the ITE class, since at least in the NER division, those classes run in separate races? I know that it would not be competitive in ITE but we are really more out to have a good time with a fun car than to win any points races. If this is possible it makes the porsche a much better option for us than the T2 camaro becuase T2 and ITE usually run together in the same race. Also, if this is possible, does anyone know of any other kind of car and class which works well to do this with?
Any information would help. Thanks.
