Are any of you lovely STL region folks going to the Auto-x in Rantoul? I am not certain if I can make it, but I do have some interest.[H]

Well anyway, Rantoul is in the central Illinois region, about 190 miles away from STL. The event is mostly known for providing a lot of runs.

    ... and concrete.

I'm thinking about it. It's either that or the KC Divisional the next weekend. Which day are you thinking about going Ahmad?.. Saturday or Sunday? Guess it could depend on the weather.

Rantoul is a bit north of Champaign/Urbana.

My parents and family all live near Effingham, so those events and the occasional one in Lawrenceville would be cool so my brothers could come watch. I'd even let one of them drive if they wanted to!

I just checked out the CIR website! I'm EXCITED....some of their events are only 25 minutes from my parents house (Coles County Airport). So if those don't conflict with ours, I will certainly make it to those!

On Saturday, June 17th, you can go to Coles County and then come to Gateway on Sunday the 18th.

The August 5th and 6th events at Coles County do not conflict with an STL event, but do conflict with the Midiv Championship at Topeka.

Lawrenceville is a bit of a trek, but the nice thing is that its always the same course, and its fairly straight-forward, so it makes for a good test for car setup or driving experience/experimentation.

Lynn: THANKS! I appreciate you posting that for me.....I am capable of checking that myself, but it sure saved me the time!

Both Coles County and Lawrenceville are a trek from here, but I can just go visit the parents the night before and have my kids see their dad and then head on to the event.

    Lawrenceville != Rantoul.

Rantoul is definetly a better site, and a further trek than Lawrenceville.

    When is the Rantoul date??

Which Lawrenceville are you going to? I haven't run there but it looks like 100 miles farther than Rantoul. I did Rantoul as a day trip last season. 200 and change each way with no traffic - there is nothing to slow you down between her and there - probably true with Lawrenceville too but 600 miles in a day AND a SOLO - that's an overnight for me.

    April 22nd and 23rd, Carl.

Kim. Lawrenceville is about 160 to 170 miles from downtown STL.

No, you don't look stupid. The Lawrenceville where the autocrosses are held is in IL. Although, it can be confusing since the Southern Indiana Region uses it more than the Southern Illinois Region.

NFS [8-)] Others had mentioned Lawrenceville.

Kim, its in IL near the IN border. Definitely a day trip.

This is my first season back into autocrossing after a 5+ year break. I would love to hit either the Lawrenceville or Rantoul event to catch up on some rusty skills and find a worthy setup for the car. Do any of you plan on hitting both days of either event?

I should finally be getting the Solo Vee Thursday evening. If all goes well, I plan on being in Rantoul for both days.

Lawrenceville is a one day event. I really enjoy going there, but it is the same weekend as the PDX at Gateway. If I can get that weekend off, I think I'll try to work on getting a Time Trial Safety Steward license.
