Anyone been to road atlanta? About how far is it from Jackson? I am planning on going to the Mitty Historic race this weekend where they are featuring the "sportscars of Japan". I am figuring about a 6 hour drive but you all know that I will probably do it in 4. :)

The Mitty is a great event! Plan on 6.5 to 7 hours at a minimum, RA is on the other side of Atlanta. Keep in mind that NASCAR races at Talledaga this weekend so depending on when you leave you could get caught up in that. And if you come back Sunday you WILL get caught in it, so plan on an extra hour or more in traffic surrounded by most of the drunk rednecks in the southeast.[:)]

I went to the Mitty last year and had a blast. They had Lotus Elise's and Minis available for test drives, and a big parking section for Miatas. There is as much to see off the track as on with all the vendors and displays. I really wish I could go this year.[:(]

Me, my dad, and my brother went to 'Dega a couple years ago. Trust me...find out when the Nascar race ends and avoid I-20 anywhere in AL for at least 3hrs after that.

I drove through AL today, and even with people "trickling in" this early in the week you wouldn't believe how congested I-20 is with motorhomes and pickup trucks clad in various colors and car numbers.

At least 3 hours after the race at a minimum. Coming back from Road Atlanta last year I hit Talladega about 8 pm thinking that most of the traffic would be gone by then. WRONG! It was bumper to bumper 5 mph from well before the track all the way to B'ham.

Don't let the traffic scare you off. The Mitty is well worth the drive.
