Here's what some of the times in Open Tire would have looked like had John run in the cars' true class:
177 GS John Thomas 318ti 0 30.683
7 FP John Thomas 280Z 0 30.834
29 GS Ry Hemphill Mini 0 31.048
61 BS Drew Boyles M3 0 31.892
77 GS Teddy Gibson 318ti 0 31.918
77 FP Richard Holden 280Z 0 32.216
161 BS John Thomas M3 2 33.428
He wasn't as fast as me in my M3 because it was his first run of the day and he coned. Note that his scratch time was faster than any of my times all day. Also note that his raw time in Teddy's GS car is also faster than any of my times all day, as well as being 1.5 seconds faster than Teddy's best time (although Teddy coned on his last run, which would have been a full second improvement).
Perhaps the best data point is John and Richard in the 280Z: two experienced, consistent drivers in a car that they're familiar with. It gives you some idea of John's skill level. I have to say, I'm quite proud that our regulars are able to keep it reasonably close.
