So, I just picked up a 1983 Mazda RX7 GSL - bone stock, with a recently rebuilt 12a (<5000 miles on it) and a spare set of stock rims. I was thinking about turning it into a spec7 racer, but I'm afraid if I start the project, by the time its done SPEC7 will be dead.

Anyone here race spec7 anymore? I know Colorado had a spec7 club last year. Where else in the country is spec7 still being run?

Not dead in Arizona. We still have 15 to 20 cars a race weekend. Not many new cars being built (except to replace damaged cars) but the ones that are put up for sale are staying on track. We are down from our heyday when we had 30 or 40 cars in a race. But that happens. And we are still getting cars from CA and NV coming to our races.

It is still the cheapest way to get into and stay in wheel to wheel racing. There is a spec7 for sale today in PHX for less than $3000.
