Is a pretty safe bet that the peace will be disturbed this weekend at Virginia International Raceway as the popular V8 StockCar series bring's its' brand of high horsepower V8 powered stock cars and GT cars to what many consider North America's finest road racing course.
Some of the series race cars are powered by Nextel Cup engines producing upwards of 800 horsepower. There are two classes of stock cars and one for GT type cars such as Corvette's, Camaro's, Mustangs, Jaguars and the like.
The V8 StockCar series runs in conjunction with the Sports Car Club of America at some of America's best and most famous race course.
The series debuted in 2004 and has seen steady growth since with twenty five to thirty cars competing at most events. Some drivers, Like Tony Ave, are seasoned, top flight pro's who have competed in Nascar events, ARCA, Trans Am, Grand Am, and others. Most, however are talented amateur racers who are living a dream, driving incredibly fast cars on famous race courses.
A huge field of these type of cars is expected this weekend at VIR, and fans fortunate enought to be standing at trackside are sure to get an eye opening, pulse quickening experience they won't soon forget.
The Sports Car Club of America and it's NC Region will sanction this weekend's races.
There will many other race groups, featuring open wheel race cars, older production race cars and the entry level improved touring series.
Weekend passes are available at the track for twenty dollars.
