SCCA Club Racers plan all year to make the National Runoff's. Driving in National events to qualify to race is a requirement. The Pan Am SCCA Region had 3 Team Pan Am racers attend the National races this year. Those members Mark Kowalski, Spec Miata (SM) Class, Jose Gerardo Formula Continental (FC) and Stan Czacki Showrom Stock (SSB) all are in Topkea, Kansas at Heartland Park Raceway. The SCCA Nationals began on Oct 6th and concludes on Oct 12th, 2008. Qualifying heats set the positons for race day, and Mark Kowalski raced on Oct 10th and had a 23rd Place finish and completed all 18 laps of his race. Jose Gerardo also raced on Oct 10th, in his FC class and with a field of 18, Jose finished 14th overall, and completed 7 out of 18 laps. In the first lap, Jose spun the car losing valuable time against his competitors. He started in 8th place. On lap # 7 Jose spun the car again and did not finish the event. Stan Czacki will complete his National Championship race on Sunday Oct 12th, early in the morning. We all thank these dedicated drivers for their long term committment to racing and representing our Pan Am Region. We wish Stan Czacki the best in his quest for a National Championship on Sunday Oct 12th. You may listen to the live race broadcast at www.scca.org. Stan's race will start about 7:15 MST on Sunday. Be sure to listen in.

    Sunday Oct 12th, 2008 UPDATE........................

Stan Czacki (Team Pan Am driver) in his #99 Camaro (Class SSB) has knocked out of the race in the starting lap, when Robert Schrader from Boulder, Colorado was knicked by Jeff Jenson and spun the car just after the green flag was waived to start the race. Stan a few cars back, had no where to go, and most unfortunately was not able to complete the race. A total of 4 cars were involved in the mishap. I am sure that Stan was upset, but knows that racing is racing and anything can happen.

While 2 of the 3 Team Pan Am drivers did not complete their races, we certainly congratulate them for their efforts and hard earned year of driving to even make the SCCA National Run-off events. The Team Pan Am drivers are all dedicated racers and have always represented our Pan Am Region well.
