With the first SCCA National Event of the Year held at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) Pan Am racers Stan Czacki, Jose Geradro and Mark Kowalski made good showings and recorded victories. It was reported that weather conditions were perfect and a strong field of racers were evident. Racers from Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Cailfornia, and Washington were present at PIR.

In the Spec Miata (Class SM), Mark Kowalski, Las Cruces, New Mexico car #50 finished 9th overall on Sat Jan 17th, 2009 in a field of 19 cars on the track. In his class (SM) Mark recorded a 3rd Place podium finish. In his second race of the weekend on Sun Jan 18th, 2009 Mark finished 8th in a field of 18 cars and recorded a 4th Place finish in his class. Mark has been racing the Spec Miata class for several years.

In the Street Stock B (Class SSB) Stan Czacki, Elephant Butte, New Mexico car # 00 finished 17th overall on Sat Jan 17th, 2009 in a field of 23 cars on the track. In his class (SSB) Stan recorded a 1st Place podium finish. In his second race of the weekend on Sun Jan 18th, 2009 Stan finished 18th in a field of 23 cars and recorded another 1st Place podium finish in his class. Stan is the veteran and senior "club racer" of the Team Pan Am group. He has been racing for many years, and has many awards and victories over in his racing events.

In the Formula Open Wheel group Jose Gerardo, El Paso, Texas (Class FC) car #14 finished 11th overall on Jan 17th, 2009 in a field of 18 cars. In his class (FC) Jose recored a 2nd Place podium finish. In his second race on Sun Jan 18th, 2009 Jose finished 12th overall in a field of 20 cars on the track. In his class (FC) Jose recored a 3rd Place podium finish. Jose has been racing open wheel formula race cars for about 4 years and finished 5th in the USA for the SCCA National Run-offs in 2007.

The Team Pan AM racers started the 2009 racing season with great results. We wish these racers and all other Team Pan Am "Club Racers" success in 2009. It's a long racing season, and I will be reporting on other Team Pan Am Club raciers in the months ahead.
